Faramir A lot of people who have seen the movie and read the books that I have talked to had a problem with the changes in this character onscreen. I was curious to see what everyone here thinks about it. I personally thought he behaved a little bit to much like his brother but then again I thought that the fact that he could let Frodo go despite the fact that he did want the ring for Gondor spoke more about his character than if he was never tempted by the ring at all.

I didn't like the way he was portrayed as more of a bad guy, I always thought Farmair was the good one. I think whoever played him did a good job tho, and I was very impressed with the forbidden pool scene ![]() :flash:

In the books, Farrimer, appeared as a thoughtful chap. Deep thinking and a man of culture. Content to allow his brother, Boromir, to exceed to the Stewardship on the grounds he wanted the job, was being formally groomed for the job and a better Captain. Yet the people of Gondor automatically looked to and prepared to follow him. His men worshipped him. But perhaps not an automatic choice for the post of leader in a nation reliant upon strength and power?

I didn't like Faramir in the movies. However, since reading the books, he's become one of my favorite characters. He was much nobler there. While he still longed to have the ring to save his people, he had made an oath, and stayed true to his word. I much preferred that, to his portrayal in the movies as a Boromir clone.
