Could someone tell me what the ancients are.

i think they are made up from different aliens, is thor and the knox part of the ancients and how many was there and have we met them all on the series.

any help would be great....

The race known as "The Ancients" are believed to be responsible for creating the network of Stargates. They were in an alliance with the Nox, the Asgard (Thor's race) and the Furlings, and seem to have been a very advanced, yet benevolent race.

They're advanced humans by the looks of them. Can't remember the conclusions Carter came to in the ep...but they didnt quite sound right

Yes, it's a bit hard to discuss the issue since it's impossible without spoiling people.
I think anybody who wants to know more about this should go to the Season Six episode section and check out the Frozen thread.
