| :alienooh: :aliengray I have a question about the update that's coming up. Will we retain our biometrics, points, ect that we have prior to the update or are we all going to start from ground zero again? :alienooh: :aliengray |

| Yes.. Of course we keep our rank and all our points..that is certain per Allan..there may be a slight point loss, one or two points with Allan's new conversion system but that is all! KTGO! CH:alienooh: :alienooh: :alienooh: |

| To save people searching, and in case they have a sudden panic attack, here is the thread wherein Allan discusses the conversions: Can anyone remember For those not bothering to follow it, but still curious, there will be a new mineral "naquadria", in the re-designed site, with existing trinium points scaled down to compensate. The total "rank points" value should be exactly the same though. Give or take a point. |

| Around the 26th of December 2002 this website will change over to the new updated version. There will also be a changeover period of approximately 2 days where the information will be transferred to the new database. During this time, the current site will still be operational, but any points or ranks gained will not be counted towards the new site. At this time, no new accounts will be able to be created. The exact date of transferr will be posted prominently on the website when the time comes. It's already the 26 december did the transfered begin? They still haven't posted anything on the site Quote:

Secondly, an answer in two parts: a) there are not 6000 members - though there have been 6000 people register accounts. Many, far too many, have been duplicates and deleted, some have been mis-typed "real" account-names, others are the many people who've been and left over the years etc. I suspect perhaps as high as 50% of those 6000 accounts have actually been deleted or disabled. Of the remainder, only a few hundred will be "active" users/members of the site b) there are a dozen or more people help in various ways with the site, with administration, user management, question setting, episode data etc. But, only AusGate himself does the coding for the site operation. There are bound to be loads of bugs to iron out before it can go live, and I'm sure we'd all prefer it to work to spec before it gets made public. Remember, as he has said before, this is not just a re-hash of the existing site, it is a total re-write, from the ground up, with no re-use of the existing code. Not something that can be tested easily or thoroughly overnight! Added by edit: a System Message has now been posted, advising of a few days delay - the weekend at the earliest for the new site being "released" | |

| OK. As Pteppic has said, points on the old site are still counting. Most of the alliance/faction admins have transferred their accounts to the new site but they will still be on the old site too for any questions, They can't update alliance libraries or promote members to manager and admin at the moment due to transfer of info but that will all be online in the new site. For those wondering about exams, all the seasons are being added as the uploaders get time so there will be plenty more training although I will not say too much about what is planned. All current faction info from the old site is being transferred and so are all points/biometrics so noone need worry about losing anything as long as they follow the instructions when the time comes. We are still working out all the bugs so it's possible the site might get delayed further but we are trying for this week as I said in my last system message on the old site. If it does get pushed back either Allan, Tim, Dan or myself will post a message when we can with the information. I would like to thank everyone here on behalf of the Ausgate staff for their patients in not asking us too often, when it's coming. Gypsy |
