Your thoughts on Season 7 so far.. how does it hold up? Personally, I'm feeling a little ...disappointed. With the exception of "conversations with dead people" and "selfless", nothing thus far has impressed me much.. it feels like something is.. missing.. and I hate to say that.. lol. am I alone in this? .. don't hate me..

I completely agree that there is something missing. I think that maybe it's the fact that there is so much confusion going on right now as to what everything means, and where everyone is going to end up in the end. If the writers are doing what I think they're doing, then they are setting us up for a huge ending. So, I think I'll give them a few more episodes before I say that this season is a complete drag.

IMO - so far, this season is leaps and bounds over S6 - S6 was so depressing and they spent so much time avoiding certain characters and making everything about Buffy (pls don't feed me the line about the show being called 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' b/c I know that - but the show has an ensemble cast and should include the CAST in the story) -- anyway --- I'm liking the stories better for this season. That could be b/c I like the mysteriousness of it all. I like that we don't know everything that's going on, and I like that it's confusing and that some things just can't be explained yet. But, that's just me.

So Far So Good I really like the new Spike and his struggles with his soul. I love how Buffy is now a counsellor and her trials with students was hilarious for me. I like Xander who is now getting out on his own. These characters are finally growing up, becoming more complex, dealing with even more realistic trials of life. Willow is having the real deal with connecting to the earth, bigtime. Dawn is having to follow in Buffy's footsteps and discovering her own identity in high school. I am connecting with this people, with their situations because of their continuing evolution.

Yeah - Sammy's pretty much got it -- (under the spoiler bar) - There are more bits about Spike and Dawn - not tossing out anything that'll spoil, but they are more 'useful' this season - and not just ficus plants like last season ---

This Season Is BIG and BAD This season, end of November 2002, Buffy is getting global and the BIG BAD is prevading and exuding throughout the series. This season is dripping with something evil coming that is infecting everything. It's an amazing year that I can't imagine how they can really outdo in the future. This growing sense of unease is really, really big, so big that the audience can really get into it because it impacts not just Sunnydale but everybody, even us viewers in evil's scope.

after watching "never leave me" - I'm starting to reconsider what I said about this season being disappointing. I was thinking that the writers were going a little crazy with all the loose ends, but now everythings falling into place.. kind of. I'm really interested to see where the story's going to go now.

i think the writers have really done a lot this season and the end of last with character development. i also think that because they're focusing so much on that they couldn't really have a constant battle with a new bad guy this season. so instead we have had to wait to really figure out what's going on. there's always been some mystery each season surronding the new bad guy/girl, but this season i think they're doing a great job of keeping us really guessing and keeping it going for longer.

Yeah - personally - I like this better - the 'mysteriousness' of it - we know something's coming, but not how, when, where, why... there's so much we 'don't' know that it's interesting and keeps you coming back for the new eps -- That and the fact that they are finding ways to keep ALL of the characters in the stories - Though, I've read something that I think explains why S4-S6 were so lacking in character development -- (or at least development of characters like Spike, Dawn, Xander) -- Joss wasn't really 'in charge' of the writing (and this is just something I read on a list, I'm not sure how much truth is in this, but it makes sense) -- Marti Noxon and Jane Espenson, apparently, had more say in the overall story-lines - which is why there's such heavy emphasis on Willow and such and less so on Xander and Spike, and later Dawn. (No wonder James wanted to leave in like S4 - I read an article where he said he wanted to move to Angel so his character could be developed more - duh - he was being ignored on the show - grrr argh) -- anyway, like I said - it's just something I read on a list - but it does make sense, and I'm glad Joss decided to take the reins back and really work on these poor ignored characters --

i think it might have been interesting with spike on angel, but i'm still a fan of him and buffy gettin together so that wouldn't work out too well. it's weird to think about 'what if' questions. like 'what if sara HAD gotten the role of cordelia?' or 'what if katie holmes had accept the role for buffy?' 'what if james had gone to angel?' 'what if seth green had stayed?'....
