Another San Antonio show business connection: One of the stars of the science fiction show "Stargate SG-1" almost came here a few years ago to teach.

Don S. Davis plays Gen. George Hammond on the show that stars Richard Dean Anderson ("McGyver"). Davis told San Antonian Gilder McCarroll at a convention for the show that he almost went to Trinity University's drama department.

We checked with Trinity, and the school did consider him for a visiting lecturer position several years ago.

He didn't come here because he had just gotten called to join the cast of a new science fiction show. Yes, "Stargate," now going into its sixth season.

It's good to know Don has things to work and play with outside of Bridge Studios.
