Okay, maybe I missed something but I taped the season premier, watched it and twice and I don't see the scene with a girl in a box. So, am I insane or is that going to be in another episode?

Yeah, it seems that the whole girl-in-a-box is a story for another time. When I heard that they were robbing a crate from a train, I figured the girl was supposed to be in the crate, but no go.

It doesn't look like its going to be on next week, either.

Actually if you remember the commercials, I didn't see any of the stuff that was in the ad in the show last night. The only thing I can figure is that the ad must have been made up of scenes from the pilot.

Perhaps, if the girl-in-a-box is from the pilot, that girl might be River, the sister of the Medic, who apparently was freed from an Alliance horror shop.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I take it that the "girl-in-the-box" is from the 'never shown' pilot then?

I've heard [TV online via scifi wire] that Fox has ordered three additional scripts for Firefly from Joss Whedon, but has yet to order a full season. The Oct. 25 installment will contain flashbacks to the series' origins, so maybe it will be in that one.

Not showing the pilot, ordering episodes 3 at a time, advertising scenes that are never shown... doesn't seem to be the best way of promoting a new series to me.

As near as I can tell - The pilot is supposed to be postponed to November sweeps.

How does this week's "flashback" episode where Mal buys Firefly fall into the Firefly timeline? Joss gave an interview recently that explained it in TVGuide.com.

This last week's episode was discussed by Joss, and he said that the flashbacks take place in a time before the pilot.

So its - flashbacks - pilot - episodes.

Yep, there wasn't much cleverness with the whole rescheduling the premiere thing. Which is a shame - cos the premiere was wonderful.

As we have since seen, the girl in the box was the slightly mad River Tam.
