Post-Spiderman 2 discussion (dont look if you dont want plot spoliers!!!)

I see a few of you have seen Spidey 2 now. I didn't want to discuss the plot in the other thread as there are huge plot points I wouldn't want spolied if I hadn't seen it. So here's a thread to discuss all the intricate plots without annoyiong anyone. Anyway, onto business..

There are 3 more confirmed Spiderman movies coming out, and I really didn't see Sam Raimi being as bold as he was in the 2nd film.

My question is simply, what direction do you see the next 3 films taking, after the plot developments in the second film?

Re: Post-Spiderman 2 discussion (dont look if you dont want plot spoliers!!!)

I'm hoping and praying for an appearance by Venom. But really after MJ marrying him and Oswald becoming Green Goblin 2, I can't think of plot-points or directions beyond internal crises and such on the part of Spidey. That's why I want to see Venom, because then there's the conflict of becoming a monster and his friend's being possessed by the symbiote.
Raimi's going great-guns though, and you have to wonder what Army of Darkness would have been like with this much money behind it. Probably the same but with better skeletons, yet still...
Incidentally, do you think that they'll start-up the full-scale anti-Spidermanism and SHIELD like in the cartoons and comics? Will we see him fighting the cops, too? I hope so, because that's what makes Spiderman work, the whole conflict and hero-pariah thing.

Re: Post-Spiderman 2 discussion (dont look if you dont want plot spoliers!!!)

Venom would be cool yeah, but Raimi seemed to be pushing Dr. Connors character quite a bit. I think we may see The Lizard in the next film.
Is it a forgone conclusion that we will see Green Goblin 2? Perhaps we will get the Hobgoblin?

Do you think they will avoid introducing Kingpin as he made a pivotal appearance in the recent Daredveil moive, or will this not matter to Raimi. He may be in danger of confusing the general viewing public introducing the character again.

Not sure whether the mass antispidermanism will make an appearance, but I think after having Peter reveal his identity to MJ at the end of number 2, anything is possible. One thing Raimi certainly has is balls.

I may be way off the mark here, but was it just me or did Doc Ock look not completely dead as he sunk? Maybe I am mistaken, or perhaps I just detected some movement I wasn't meant to, is he definately dead?

I agree, it seems like The Lizard is next. I would prefer not seeing Green Goblin 2 though because I really don't think James Franco has the acting chops to make a good bad guy. He barely has the acting skills to handle the role he's in much less trying to fill Dafoe's shoes. Plus, if we do see Green Goblin 2 and the Hobgoblin in seperate films they would tend to dominate the franchise overall and those characters were always my least favorite of Spidey's villians.

I haven't heard or read anything that this is going to happen. With the Daredevil movie having already shown him I think Raimi will avoid it.

I was thinking the same thing both times I saw it! He appears to be dying but they cut away before you see him eat it for good so anything can be possible.

I really can't believe there are three more movies planned though, sheesh, the last one wouldn't come out until at least 2013...I just can't see Tobey's hairline holding up that long nor do I think it would be easy for a 38 year old to play a young man in his early twenties...I wonder if cast changes will be made before the last one outside of Dunst already planning to leave after the next one.

I agree, have the Goblin characters in 3 of the films would really be an unwise move. Plus in retrospect, didnt you find that the Green Goblin really didn't transfer to the big screen anywhere near as well as Doc Ock?

Excellent! I am so glad it wasn't just me thinking that!!!
I hope we are right, an epic and (half) unexpected return in a later movie (at a pivotal moment of course) would be magnificent!

Yeah does make you wonder doesn't it. With regards Dunst leaving, do you think they will simply continue without MJ being around? I do hope they dont cast someone else to play her, I hate when they do that. Not sure how they are going to tackle Toby's increasing age though!!?! I'm not sure it would work to simply write it into the plot, but hoping the audience just wont notice it would not be wise either. Is it possible we will see the introduction of a new love interest for Spidey in the next film?

Did anyone see the new animated Spiderman series, which was set between the first two films? I thought it was superb, in many respects I enjoyed it more than the first movie, anybody know if a second series is planned between the second and third movies?

Yes, and I had a feeling he wouldn't when I first read about him being the first villain. William DaFoe did a great job in the role though...

I was thinking when I noticed that scene that they may have planned that after seeing how awesome Molina was in roll. I can see it happening for sure.

You know, I doubt they will cast another girl in the role. I think they are setting something up with Betty Brant, I'm no expert on the comic's full story line but I did read somewhere that she was a love interest in the comics to some degree. The way she acts with Peter in the film (the nice smiles, the hand on the shoulders when J. Jonah fired and re-hired Peter, etc.) seems to indicate a bigger role in the future. To tell you the truth, she is about ten times hotter than Dunst imo so I wouldn't mind seeing her more.

If your talking about the MTV CGI animated series then yes, it was outstanding. I enjoyed it as much as the movies as well!

Re: Post-Spiderman 2 discussion (dont look if you dont want plot spoliers!!!)

So, has anyone found out why Alfred Molina didn't put on a German/Austrian accent for Doc Ock??? And Why has he become just Doc Ock, and not Doctor Octopus???

HAHAHAH, like what people have said about James Franco, he couldn't look or act as mental as Willem Dafoe - that bloke has made a career of that look, just like John Malcovich!!!

So, what has been said about future films??? Any tie-ins with X-Men, Hulk, Fantastic Four (though I keep wanting to say Famous Five, for some reason), Daredevil???

Did they have Doctor Connors in the second film (I know he was mentioned in passing in the first), about to turn into Croc (I always mix him up with Killer Croc from Batman)??? Where is King Pin??? Are all the super heroes in New York??? How come they don't seem to meet???

So many villains and so few films likely, before they have to change actors!!! BRING ON THE RED SKULL!!! BWAHAHAHA!!!

Where is Venom, the best thing that happened to Spider-man in many a day!!! And Carnage!!! Make the movie certificate an 18!!! WOOHOO!!!

Can't wait to see the movie on Tuesday...

Re: Post-Spiderman 2 discussion (dont look if you dont want plot spoliers!!!)

Well, I finally got around to see the movie and I thought it great! Ok, there were some things that surprised me, like to revelation towards MJ at the end. I thought it a bit early. On the other hand, in regards to Parker's continuous bad luck, it would have been unbelievable if MJ had stuck around for him much longer...

Concerning the question of 3 following movies... Why not let Spidey age? Let him have kids and stuff... On the other hand, this is supposed to be a bunch of action hero movies... Not much room for kids there...
