I don't know about Walmart, but I've seen some strange looking characters at the 7-11.

ok, the article is online, you'll find yourself quoted and hugged

http://www.pink-khaki.net/jonas.html

as I didn't find any other jonas-page, I linked to the jonas quinn asylum, though I'm really disappointed that also this site isn't there to just enjoy a character, but had to belittle another in the process. it really looks like a peaceful coexistence within the fandom is not possible.

thanks again to all of you for your well-thought comments.

Jonas' super human mental abilities reportedly will show up in "Prophecy".

All I can say is "Jonas Smith", or should that be "Johnny QUinn" <G>

USA Network viewers will know what that means.

Great article. One small correction "What was overseen, tough, is," I think you meant "though" -- sorry, old proofreader here.

It also would have been nice if you had attributed the quotes to the various writers, even if only by our pseudonyms, but I appreciate any mention and am happy to help.

lol - thanks for the tip! I'll correct it later - I didn't have a beta reader this time, so all blame's on me for typos!

as for attributing the quotes: we did this on purpose, because, with every issue, there comes a lot of nice mail from nice people. alas, there are also some pretty unpleasant mails from unpleasant people ... we didn't want any of you guys who contributed to get this kind as well, we thought it was plenty enough if we had to deal with it.

but if any of you wants his/her name under his/her quote, please let me know, of course we can change that.

thanks!

I didn't realize just how fanatical some of the "fans" could get, but I wouldn't mind if just my pseudonym and no other information appeared. Those who really have no life other than to diss TV characters, can hunt for my contact information -- just as they can after reading my posts here.

i don't care if folks know what i said about jonas...i've always been open about my opinion. If other folks don't agree with my opinion...fine. I know I don't agree with theirs. And if they're so bored they feel the need to flame me... whatever <G>

as to liking jonas...well after seeing him at gatecon, i like him even more. Corin Nemec is a perfectly adorable guy, with a great sense of humor and a fun spirit.

One of the things on the studio tour was jonas' office. It doubles as Sam's lab and was also Daniel's lab (basically one office...many uses <G>

One thing that impressed me is how small everything is....i mean the infirmary looks huge...but it's about the size of my livingroom.
Hammond's office would fit in my bedroom. (and i got to sit in his chair!!! *bounce*)

the prometheus set is large...but very twisty. I see how they could make 40 square feet or so look like dozens of corridors.

about the only part of the set that's huge is the stargate/control room/briefing room. they are just like they are on the show...three big inerconnected rooms

but....back to jonas :rolly2:

he's great and after meeting the actor, i like the character even more

The writers could have made CN's entrance into the Stargate world a lot easier, but they didn't and there's no going back. There are things I'd like to see giving JQ more depth and more background, but unless I take the time to write it myself as fanfic, I'm not going to see it (and right now I have two large research papers and a ton of reading for my degree -- plenty to do).

So, I'm determined to sit back and enjoy whatever I can get out of whatever TPTB produce. The more I see of CN the more I like him. I just wish some of the more beligerant fans would settle down and let it slide. MS made his choice, TPTB made theirs, and we watch or we don't -- that's our choice.

Of course, if John Crichton will no longer grace my screen in that tight black leather, maybe JQ could consider a wardrobe change . . .

mmmhm...jonas in leather...now THAT would be nice!!!

I see Corin very much as an innocent bystander. He got called in to fill a position and do a job. It's not like he pulled a tonya harding and whacked nancy kerrigan (MS) on the head to 'steal' his job.

I did really like the very warm welcome and loud cheers he got during his panel. While some may not like the character they either refrained from showing that dislike in the auditorium...or were drowned out by others. And for that i am very grateful.

on the stage he struck me as a very open, friendly, fun guy and i can see him fitting in well with the atmosphere of hte rest of the cast and crew

Lately I have just been so fed up with all the trash talk about him.
So I am happy now to see stuff like this! :rolly2: :rolly2:

Jonas has a great deal of potential, but much of it remains unrealized because the writers seem to be unsure of how to handle the cast change. Too much Jonas and the Daniel fans complain, too little and Jonas fans are unhappy. Tough tightrope to walk, but I expect that as professionals the team the produces SG1 can come up with satisfactory compromises.

An episode focusing on JQ's past, his life on Calonna, perhaps a rocky relationship scene with Jack ("I have to command you and bring you home alive. That's it. I don't have to like you.") and some resolution to that relationship. After all, JQ joined under dubious circumstances and those cannot just be swept away -- not in the minds of the other characters (would appear very phoney, esp. for Jack) nor in the minds of the audience.

I want the writers to give JQ some moments where he really gets to ACT, not just be along to fill in a gap in the team. Daniel is gone and the team dynamic has to change. It shouldn't do it instantly nor easily. It should take time and there should be rough moments.

it would be nice if we'd get more of jonas' background. I've heard rumors that we might find out a little more in the last 11 eps.

and i do agree with you webmouse...they're danged if they do and danged if they don't. Put Jonas center stage and folks scream, put him in the background and other folks scream.

Here's hoping that they ignore 'us' and tell their stories.

A good storyteller tells a good story. And if it is a good story it will find some way of pleasing most, if not all.

The writers should be thinking about what makes a good story, with a balance of the team, and a sensitivity to the fact that JQ is the "new guy" about whom they shown damn little. If they opt to focus a little more on him, those that are displeased should bear in mind that the lad is 5 years behind his team mates.

I trust we can all be adult enough to handle it.
