Moulin Rouge

ok, i LOVE this movie. i just saw it for the first time a week ago and have seen it at least 5 times since. this is the best movie i've seen in a long time. i didn't go see it right away because everyone that came out of it said it was either the best movie they'd ever seen, or the worst. but i wish i had gone to see it sooner. directed by baz luhrmann (Romeo & Juliet, Strictly Ballroom ) it's a little weird at first, but it's really good once you get into it.

I bought Moulin Rouge in May as part of my mums mothers day present.
.... She still ain't watched it! I can't watch it cos it's still in it's plastic wrapping.

I have caught the last 20 minutes of it though at a mates house.
I really enjoyed Baz Luhrmann's style. The cinematography and editing gives both "Moulin Rouge" and "Romeo and Juliet" a fantasy style with fast cut action shots and slows down for the romantic interaction.
The musical score also plays a huge part in bringing the movie off the screen and into your heart.

...God that last sentence was way too sappy for me :dead:

it will seem a lot less sappy if you see the rest of the movie. promise. one thing that i really liked about the movie was that baz gave you lots of warning that she was going to die. i hate getting blindsided at the end of the movie all the time. see, when you know she's going to die for a long time, when it actually happens at the end it's a little less dramatic.

i LOVED moulin rouge!

I thought the elephant scene was SO funny. I was laughing so hard it was great! and the Elephant medley was so cool, like when he stands on it's head and sings 'love lifts us up where we belong...' wow

And Ewan McGregor is yummy in a tux!

The Duke made me feel ill tho, he was like a rat or some other small vermin....eegh.

Exclamation Moulin Rouge!

Moulin Rouge! I just noticed there was no thread for this film. I love it and it's my fave film/movie ever! I love Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor is totally 'thunkable'! ( For translation see gateworld.net) Baz Luhrmann is a genius! Neone else love it too?

 " Jealousy will drive you MAD!" :angryfire :kisses:

we now have the movie poster haning in our front room. i love this movie

i think part of the reason that a lot of people didn't like this movie was because they were singing modern songs in older times. i thought that was like the coolest part of the whole thing. i also think a lot of people went in expecting one thing and got quite another. especially if they've seen baz luhrman's romeo and juliet and liked it. but this one was more his r&j meets baz's simply ballroom. (both of which i love ) anyway, this movie still rocks
