| Wherever I Am, I'm There | Not Recommended. Unfortunately, I went to see this. It is a remake of the Hitchcock film 'Lifeboat' only set in space inside a life pod, rather than at sea in a lifeboat. The first interplanetary cruise ship malfunctions halfway to Jupiter, forcing most of the crew and passengers to abandon ship. A handful of people are trapped onboard. There are lots of special effects shots of the Arcturus spaceliner, but the cast of unknowns and the poor script and direction make it not recommended. It was made in 1980, I think most SciFi films at that time suffered from the same illness. They thought that post-Star Wars they needed these great special effects and could dispense with a plot. Star Trek: The Motion Picture had the same problem. |
