What will happen when...

..all the movies are out and the vids and DVDs have all been released? Will the fans slowly fade away into a LOTR twilight only to appear when there is a Fantasy convention? Or will we all live on proudly like the true fans we are? I wonder...

I'll still post in here, even if no-one else does. I fear tho, there will be some new film with some new and exciting young actor and Orlando bloom and his posters will be at the back of the wardrobe...no! never! *sob*

Sadly the former will be the final fate, with brief upsurges as the film finally hits the small screen, or people rediscover the books. So enjoy your time here and make the most of it. We have three more years!

I thought it was already dead.... but thats never stopped me posting before. If I'm at ascifi I'll still be posting here. Being coherent and posting intelligent thoughts is a totally different thing.

I don't know if the Hobbit would have quite the same zing as lotr. For a start off there'd be no Orlando so that means its dropped a few places naturally.
Where would the 'ooh hes a bit edible' factor come into it? I cant see a dwarf pinned on my wall personally. Weren't there a few Elves in it for a bit? It's been a while since I read it!

The Hobbit does focus mainly upon the relationship between Hobbits and Dwarves. But the Mirkwood Elves (Legolas' people) do feature

What is this?? Doubt in the ranks that LOTR will be lost forever?!?!? I think not. LOTR is classic - generations of fans will love it! LOTR will never die!!! - 'as long as we stay true to each other'

The books will never die. But we rely upon new blood, such as yourself, Leyla, to bring us something new to kick about. So welcome and give us something to jaw upon, Please? (with cherry?)

Why thank you! I'm new to the board, but not new to LOTR! I loved the books, then hated the film, and now love the film too! You gotta love LOTR!

Yes you do! LOTR is wonderful!!:rolly2: But more than likely it will fade into near oblivion again in a few years. It's a bit of a fade at the moment and fades never last.

I don't think it will fade completely away. If you look at this forum you'll notice people still posting about Doctor Who. Granted, the fan base will shrink, maybe even considerably, but that's OK, cuz most of those that will drop off weren't into it for the same reasons many of us are. We'll still have many people to discuss the vast Ring Universe with. Especially as people who were introduced to Tolkein start to read his books for the first time... Some of these will even go beyond the movie story and into the Hobbit and Syllmarilian (did I spell that right?) and other short stories about the Ring Universe.
