The 1st 'Batman' film that I saw was 'Batman Returns' & it's really good indeed, I then saw the 1st one a bit later on!

What, the popcorn? No seriously, I did like the film and I admire Nicole Kidman coz I think she's a brill actress but I think Val Kilmer made a very weak Batman indeed! Not tall or muscly enough for Batman!

I saw the 1966 Batman: The Movie replayed on TV around 1978 i think. All I remember now is a Bat-speedboat and Joker, Riddler and Penguin in a submarine.

The first movie I saw was Batman (1989) and it scared the heck out of me. I was 5 or 6 years old at the time but it really scared me. When I watched it again later when I was older I really enjoyed it.

The original in 1966. Looked in vain for shark repellent for years afterward. As I recall, Batman kept his on a handy rack between squid repellent and barracuda repellent.

Batman and Robin, must have been about 1958 as it was a Saturday Matinee

The 1989 version. LOVED it. Loved the sequel too. After that it went downhill.

I like the latest one though, with Christian Bale.

Ha that was my first too. I was a kid at the time and the campiness of it made me squirm, apart from the slackness it suffered from being a full-length movie with very little plot. But I think I might enjoy it more now, espeically since I do remember liking the TV series screened here about a decade back.

After that it was the 1989 Batman. The anticipation for it was incredible - In India we had very little access to international movie preview clips at that time, and only a couple of news programs that had international news segments would play them. But the lone clip I saw of Bats squaring off against the black swordsman was AWESOME to my then 13-year old self - and thankfully, the movie live up to the hype. Sometime back I got the Special Ed DVD set for this movie and I find I still love it.

Batman Returns was next and it was a fantastic follow-up in several ways, featuring one of the best plots for a Superhero movie, although some fans may complain that Batman himself is a somewhat periperhal figure.

Batman Forever...um...was loud, flashy and boring and Batman & Robin was too icky even in trailers for me to consider seeing it.

Batman Begins showed some promise in the making but I found the final product too long-winded, pompous and unexciting.

Ah, Shark repellant. So bad it was almost good. Watching the movie as a teenage genre fan starved for something decent and convincing myself that the movie was worth watching. (Although now I really enjoy Adam West so much better in Family Guy.)

The Adam West 66 film. Hahaha it's funny how everyone remembers the Bat Shark Repellant! Even more amusing is that the time it took to find the repellant the shark would have torn Robin's legs off. Hell I would have paid to see that!

After that I watched them in the sequence they came out. My favourtie still remains Batman the Motion picture (the 89 one!)

Re: What Was The 1st Batman Film You Saw?

I can remember watching a few of the old series (BAM! Whoosh! SMACK! and so forth!! hah). I don't know in what order I've seen the films, but I've seen them all expect the Adam West one. I think my favourite one is the one with Riddler and Two-Face in...both are played by fantastic actors and it's a great film. Although I think George Clooney made the best Batman (heh)! But that film didn't seem as dark as the previous ones...Oh wait! I haven't seen the newest one! I forgot about that! Well, that'll be on my to-do list now.
