Episode III Rumours

Here are some Episode III rumours I picked up on www.aintitcool.com:

Please note - I highly recommend taking any and all this information with a grain of salt, especially considering how early in pre-production the third film is.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EPISODE 3 TID-BITS!

Hi Harry! Crafty Spoiler here and as this is my first post, I would like to share with you some interesting tid-bits about STAR WARS: EPISODE 3!!!

- I currently work at Fox Studios in Australia. A few days ago, 2 representatives from Lucasfilm, production crew and location scouts were talking about possible plans for Episode 3 at Fox Studios, I was in the area at the time and here are some small tid-bits!

Lucas has been writing the final chapter since January and shooting is scheduled to start in July 2003 - Johnathon Hales has been confirmed as co-writer once again.

Daniel Logan's Agent has been told to keep July-August of 2003 clear!

Mountains and Caves around AustraliaÂ*have been touted as possible locations for the movie.

Robin Gurland met with Christopher Eccelson (spelling?) Robert Carlyle and Samantha Morton at the aftershow party of the premier of both clones and Minority Report in London.

Hayden Christensen will wear the vader suit - not some other actor and Hayden will be present in the movie around 90%.

CGI yoda will return!

The Kamino Stage from Clones, including the model Slave 1 are still standing - sparking rumours the planet will make a return in episode 3.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think I have heard rumours from a closer to Lucas source that corroborate the 90% Hayden info, so this may just be recycled. The rest could simply be fairly confident guesswork.

I would say NO WAY to Samantha Morton - not that I don't like her, I just don't see her taking it. Ditto (with less conviction) CHristopher Eccleston.

Who is Daniel Logan? DO they mean Daniel Logue? Hmmmm

more location rumours

A new rumour appeared today:

Quote:
DARK HORIZONS -- Star Wars: Episode III: Rick McCallum has apparently been checking Scotland and the Czech Republic for "Gothic" style locations.
Quote:
JEDI NET -- Dark Horizons ran the following snippet earlier today on Rick McCallum and Episode III location scouting:

Rick McCallum has apparently been checking Scotland and the Czech Republic for "Gothic" style locations.

In addition to the DH report, the folks over at Spark of the Force are reporting similar news:

It has been made known that apparently Rick McCallum has been checking locations in Scotland and the Czech Republic for Gothic style locations.

We'll have to wait and see. We've already heard reports of scouting in New Zealand.

We received a tip today from an anonymous source of the following. Highlight to read as the following may be a spoiler to some people:

It has been made known that apparently Rick McCallum has been checking locations in Scotland and the Czech Republic for Gothic style locations.

I guess we'll have to wait and see if these locations will be used for anything.

any rumors on who will play atakin as an adult when he goes to the dark side?

I read somewhere and can't remember where or find the link again (old age  ) that it might be Mark Hamill!

As i understand it, Hayden C is to keep his role for the next film - unless you are referring to a suited-up Darth Vader?

I read an interview where he said that he was keen to get the suit on himself. But, that wouldn't be down to him, George Lucas would decide.

I just came across an amusing (and almost certainly false) rumour on www.corona.bc.ca that Patrick Stewart is to take a minor role in Ep 3, as Sidious's master, now dead of course, but appearing in a similar way to OB and Yoda after their deaths. Corona debunk the rumour pretty fast on the grounds that this master is supposed to have been the only sith to have ever beaten yoda in combat - but it is established in Ep 1 that there have been no sightings of Siths for a thousand years.

Anyway, I thought it was interesting - could you imagine? Stewart gets his fingers in yet another huge franchise. Next we will be hearing he is going to be Dumbledore in Potter 3, and the Villian in Bond 21

Episode III Hints Offered

Iain McCaig, who returns as a concept artist on George Lucas' upcoming prequel film Star Wars: Episode III, offered the official Homing Beacon newsletter hints about how Anakin Skywalker makes his ultimate transition to the dark side of the Force. McCaig based his hints on early script pages for the last prequel in the saga, which traces Anakin's eventual transformation into Darth Vader.

"In Episode I, when we saw Jake Lloyd, we wondered, 'Where's the dark side? Why isn't this kid creepy?'" McCaig told the newsletter. "And then, in Episode II, Hayden Christensen came across as a justifiably angry teenager more than a kid who crosses over to the true dark side. ... So I kept waiting for the dark side to take hold."

McCaig added, "In this film, you realize, it's more about Anakin making the wrong choices. He's given a glorious moment by George—I'm so happy with part of the script—where he truly has to make a choice. In the end, I think that's a smarter way to go than a slow transformation. It's more tragic this way."

McCaig added that Padme Amidala (Natalie Portman) finds herself having to conceal her marriage and pregnancies. As in earlier prequels, McCaig will help develop her costumes. "What are we wearing this year in Star Wars?" he asked. "In Episode I, she was the queen, and she was wearing disguises. I once said she should be able to slip out of the back of the costume, and you'd never know she was gone. Ironically, in this one, she's back to wearing disguises. As well as now hiding this marriage to a Jedi, which is not allowed, she has to hide the fact that she's going to have babies. All of the costumes had to disguise these facts." Episode III will begin production this summer for release in 2005.
"having to conceal her marriage and pregnancies"

I was lead to believe Leia and Luke were twins, but I'm not sure where I heard/read that now, so long ago in the mists of time that it was.

Do you think "pregnancies" is a mistake or does she really have two pregnancies?

Are they both also to be concealed from Anakin?

One, might be possible, two would be quite difficult, because it would assume that their relationship continued on inbetween, and Anakin would be stupid to be fooled by more lookalike handmaidens.

(first thank u for posting in this forum, had been a while since anyone else has graced it, and i cant think of any new threads)

Hmm i like the idea that Anikin is going to go all at once it seems more likely, and i dont think that Padame will have to births, that doesnt fit the story line as we know it:rolly2:

Why don't we speculate on some of the various rumours then?

We've covered Padmé and Anakin's relationship already, but there is also a rumour that he kills Padmé, (or does she die by some other means?)

Who or what kills the majority of the Jedi Knights?

What is the fate of Count Dooku (Darth Tyranus)?

Is Anakin’s father ever revealed? (I, for one, want to know who he was.)

Does Qui-Gon Jinn return as an advisory apparition? (Something of that nature has already been filmed.)

What of the rumours of a Sith Witch?

Does Anakin fight Obi-Wan in a 'final' battle on the rim of a volcano? (This is a very old rumour, I first heard it around the time that the ESB was released in the early 1980's.)

What is the secret scene George Lucas filmed in Tunisia just prior to the conclusion of the shooting of AotC? (Is it just Shimi Skywalker's gravestone to add to the ANH Lars farm scene, or is it something for Ep III?)

I have heard a few rumours or rather suggestions that Qui Gon might be revealed as a Sith, or at least working for Count Dooku.
Also that there is the possibility that Anakin's real father will be revealed to be Dooku, or Palpatine. By way of the Kamino cloners.

I find it hard to imagine Qui Gon's calm and determined character to have been a rebel against the Republic, but I suppose he could have been an unwitting accomplice to Dooku.
I am almost certain that the issue of Anakin's father will be raised. The Star Wars universe seems to be big on fatherhood as a plot point, so it would seem a huge missed opportunity not to go into this issue further.

ok first as far as the i have heard and have gathered anikin doesnt have a father, if u remember PM there is a scene were Qui Gn asks anikins mother if there is a father she says no and later qui gon tells us he thinks that ankin may have been conceived of the force.

As for who kills all the jedi, well also im working with little concrete evidence but more sentences here and there in some novels and in the movies that hint towards the following. the jedi were killed by a combanation of Darth Vader and jedi hunting partys in the imperial service( number and make up of hunting partys unknown, they have just been hinted at), but the main person that could be linked to the death of the jedi is most likely Vader

Another case of what has been hinted at, as far as i know yes anakin and obi wan do fight on or near some lava because anakin falls into it and that is why he needs the helmet and the rest of his armour to survive.

I dont have much clue what happens to DArth Tyranous, considering that the whole plot line that he is involved in was never talked about before the AOTCs. im guessing that he and mace windo or mabye yoda again are gonna face off, or mabye anakin will go after him for revenge for taking his arm.

as for the sith witch i have heard rumors to the effect that she may be either a rouge bad guy or just another of palapatines minions

ok lets see waht speculation do i have to add to all this

one thing that i wonder is how the coming out of the empire and will be done.

also i know that most people beleive that darth sidious is palpatine and i agree the evidence to this is strongly in favor, but i wonder if lucas isnt playing with us and is gonna send us for a loop in the third movie?:rolly2:

I didn't think of it that way, I thought that she meant his father had left her and wasn't still around.

I do remember Qui Gon saying that Anakin might be conceived of the Force, and that does fits with an imaculate conception, but then Qui Gon was wrong on many things about Anakin, so who knows?

I am certainly hoping that there will be some unexpected twists in the final movie, otherwise there won't be any point in going to see it.

Episode III To Bridge Gap

Star Wars: Episode III producer Rick McCallum told fans on the official site's new fee-based Hyperspace message board that the prequel will lead directly into the original Star Wars film. "It'll take place three years or so after Episode II," McCallum posted, adding, "I do believe Ep III will bridge the gap and answer most all of the unanswered questions. I think it's much more of a fun, adventure feel. Although, of course, Anakin [Hayden Christensen] turning into Vader is pretty intense."

McCallum said to expect more action and dueling. "Ep III definitively has the most light-saber action of any Star Wars film," he said. "The battles will be on an even larger scale."

Episode III is gearing up for production this summer in Sydney.
I can't see it showing Luke and Leia growing up (it would have to in order to really 'bridge the gap') as it just wouldn't have enough of an exciting ending. It's far more likely to end with the Vader-Obi Wan battle, then Vader getting his helmet and Obi Wan disappearing to Tattoine.

What do you think?

I agree that missing out on Luke and Leia's (particularly Leia - I think her childhood story would be MUCH more interesting than Luke's) childhoods would mean that the gap wouldn't quite be bridged, but I wonder if perhaps the animated series we know is coming next year is successful, then perhaps we might see more of this non-move filler?
