I wanted her to fall over again & have Jack catch her...
... weeeellllll so did I but hey, he did catch her *and* was like 'OMG Carter!' when they brought her back from the machine. I guess they can't have *too* much ship in an episode (can u ever have too much ship? ;-)) After 'Paradise Lost' I'm greatful for nething we get in the form of ship!

that was my biggest nit. she was near death when they put her in, then all perky and ready to take the machine apart.

my theory is that it took more than one session. I swear when jack picked her up, she was just in a t-shirt, but had her jacket on the last time.

she also wasnt' as distressed as the first time, implying that it was more pleasant.

Maybe it took two times to fix her?

presumably she took off her jacket because she was perspiring so much & was trying to cool off? ya & why would you want to study something that just near killed you? still, my little shippy heart is still fluttering from the moments we did get...

oh, just though of something, right before I run out the door from work & go home for the weekend, yippy... if Jonus is already on his way to being a hoc'tar, why didn't Nirti just take him as her new host? or is she rather attached to her existing host?
have a good weekend...

Totally agree..some great acting form all I thought!

If you were really looking for a shippy scene then I thought the bit where Jack said to Carter after she had been in the machine something like "your going to be ok" and she replied "I don't think so sir' and they kinda looked at each other for a long time! That bit took me back to Divide and Conquer!!

one good arguement sam didn't use but should have

'we have thousands of people on our planet taht are dying of genetic diseases. If we can just figure out how this works, maybe we can save them'

that may have swayed Egar and Wodon rather than 'it's cool advanced tech and i want to play with it'

Thumbs up

This was a great episode. I have to agree that I love the effects when the people die (the thing with the water). Really cool. And also have to agree it reminds me of X-Men. The story was cool, and the powers that Nirty give the aliens. It was a good episode.

I'm kind of of the 'eh it was okay' mind on this one -

I'm growing to hate any and all shippy or slashy moments b/c after the ep - it's all anyone talks about - there is more to the ep than how many shippy moments there were, or the 1001 ways to interpret sed shippy moment -- grr argh - and For cryin' out loud --

Story - predictable and kinda boring
Acting - well, hard to tell, same as usual, mostly
Effects / Aliens - the 'super powers' - kinda lame - might have been more interesting if there had been more display of them, and thus SG-1 are confronted with the 'well, do I wanna keep these?' -- ie: SG-1 should have acquired some powers or something - something to make the decision to change back a little more difficult - the way it was set up - there really was just the one choice - change back or dissolve --

Nirti? Well, she's okay -- but I agree w/ whomever said - stop killing off all the goa'uld -

Gotta have antagonists to keep the protagonists busy -

All in all I'd have to say it was an OK episode.

The thing with Jonas being genetically different has got me thinking tho.

Do you think it's possible that TPTB are going to use that as a reason to limit Jonas' Gate travel in Season 7? It would lower the risk of him getting captured by the Go'auld, give Janet a chance to see what the differences and effects might be, and also leave a place on SG1 for Daniel to come back into.

Just a thought.

I didn't want Nirti dead, she was my favourite G...well before the leather & whips outfit...I think one of the reasons we're all consentrating on the shippy bits is because your other points were valid. Boring, predictable story, etc. etc.

Kat! hidy!! how are ya! long time no post!! woohoo - knew you were still hanging around tho ---

Warning -- rant ahead ----

you've been warned ------->

And, re: shippy moments -- um - no, that's not it, it might be why you, skoon, concentrated on them - but it happens in nearly every episode - it's why I stopped coming to the episode discussion threads for a while - I got so tired of shippy this and shippy that --- it was a smidge on the super-overwhelming side - so, I slipped out and concentrated on other things -- so, I think it's more than that --

I guess, the thing is (and I'm not begruding anyone the right to sit and watch intently for shippy or slashy moments) I don't understand the ppl who sit and watch a show *specifically* seeking out shippy or slashy scenes or looks or whatever - and I wonder if some of these ppl even see the story / episode since they're concentrating so hard on finding every raise of the eyebrow that must have some hidden meaning --- <read: 'sexual reference'>

It's just me ranting here, mostly, so don't ream me for it - but stuff like the above paragraph is why I had to turn off any and all potential to look for shippy moments - I can't even read ship-fic anymore - it drives me nuts b/c it's mostly the same -

Like I said, it's just me - and Stargate seems to be the one fandom that seems to dwell heavily on shippiness and slashiness - and I have no idea why - the other fandoms I'm in, sure, they have it, but it's not as 'up front' as SG-1 -- anyone has any idea why that is -- let me know ----

And ya know, it's bad when you're watching and ep and you see something and immediately go - 'oh man, ship moment, now everyone's gonna focus on that and forget the rest of the story' -- that's never a good sign -----

I'm done ranting --- it's just been one of those - well, several of those - days ------

Personally on the whole shippy thing, i love the stuff, i guess i am one of those people that look out for eyebrows and hidden meaning, it's fun, i'm not big on the plot detail, i can't pick out errors that appear to be obvious to everyone else, but i like observing people and shippy scenes are fun for me because of that

for me it's fun to look out for.

as to serious discussion....well so many times in the last year serious discussion has lead to such discord in various places, I think folks are purposefully avoiding it.

I mean on one list in teh last week, someone tried to start a serious discussion about a fic style that was starting to emerge, and they were shot down by individuials that took it personally as an insult so the discussion ended.

There seems to be so many folks taking things way too seriously that folks seem to either keep it fluffy or not talk at all

Sad really - b/c fluffy bugs / bothers some ppl - which, then leads to - nothing to discuss -

so - to those ppl, (the ones who wanna take stuff too seriously) I say - lighten up -

Really, there's so much good stuff to these shows - or there's the potential for a lot of good stuff if the writer's get their heads out of their collective butts and write the stories we wanna see (stuff like "Paradise Lost" and S1 and S2) - and not the way too X-files-y stuff -- I don't wanna see any more Earth-based things - like "Smoke and Mirrors" - what was that? -- send 'em through the gate - and, please, leave the shippy stuff out -

And ya know - this shippy stuff wouldn't even bother me, but they went and shoved it at us in D&C (where they also killed Martouf - what were they thinking?) - and from there on out - (not to mention some other non-SG-1 related shippy things that totally turned me off from ships altogether) - I was totally anti-ship / anti-slash --- I rant on this alot, but mostly b/c it just shows up everywhere - it's one of those things that I just rant about and deal with and move on ---

So - as long as I can rant - everyone else can yak about ship / slash / whatever ---- we can live peaceably ----
