| Trekkies (1997) - Documentary I recently read Shatner's book "Get a Life", and just this evening I came across the 1997 documentary Trekkies. Check out its IMDB entry. It is fairly similar in tone to Shatner's book, and several of the same fans show up in both. I was wondering if anyone has seen it? I sat there in quiet wonder at some of the quite mad things I saw. Like the "Whitewater" juror who wore full trek regalia to the trial, and likes to be called "Commander". Now, don't get me wrong, I really like trek, but I can't imagine it taking over my life in quite the way it had with some of those people. There were several stories from some of the cast members about their encounters with fanatics - Jimmy Doohan had some bloke trying to get a sample of his blood for 20 years! He also told a heartfelt story of one particular fan he apparently brought back from the brink of suicide - I almost teared up myself. Any thoughts or comments? |

| Funny! I actually own it! I received it as a present... it's pretty funny. Every Trek fans should see it at least once. There are some very extreme fans showcased on the video... great costumes! I watched it with a bunch of friends and everyone had a good laugh. Here's a few other fun Trek item: "Trek Chicks Rock" T-Shirt Select "Page 2" in the drop-down menu. Star Trek Uniform Patterns - Pics of fans wearing them, too! |
