::insert jaw dropping smiley::

I had no ideal this whole forum within a forum existed! I just recently found ASciFi.com so... yeah.
Umm..."Hello. I'm a newbie." Okay, now that that's out of the way, maybe someone could help me out with...EVERYTHING!

( I have so much catching up to do.)
But I'm also very excited about getting to learn all these new...whatever you'd like to call it. :rolly2:

First off, I actually tried to read throught this entire thread, I wouldn't say successfully because I might have skimmed a few posts here and there. And, I do know that there hasn't been a post in this thread for a while and that the site has already undergone some changes and is still in the process of going through some more...including the whole "battles" and whatnot.

Okay... the questions:
1) In a previous post, (I'm sorry but I'm not going through the whole thread and finding it), someone said "training things with daniel". Should this be taken in the context of the old site (which I wasn't around for...fairly new newbie on Ausgate as well)? Just wondering because the training set up is just questions.
1.5) Am I missing something? Are there training games with which you can train with certain characters? maybe factions?
2) Also referring to something stated in a previous post, how do you "convert bonus points"?
3) How does anyone know 'who-is-who' in these forums/threads/posts? Experience? Contacts? Who you know?
4) DUTY LOG? What is this? (Should I be asking this in the "New and Improved Duty Log" thread?)
5) Is there anything else I should know, but don't?
Wait...let me be more specific. Umm...
5.5) Are there other sites (particularly forums) that are also related to Ausgate?
6) Somewhat OT but still relevant:
(I've asked this in other threads but still have yet to be answered) Anyone at Ausgate also at avidgamers? sg1archive? or scifi.com/stargate bboards? ("at" as in participate and post, not just check out the site, read it, linger, etc.) If so, what are your various handles/names?

I know this is extremely long, but thank you to anyone who's even just read through this entire post. Seriously. Thanks!

=*philoSCIFI*=
...anxiously awaits replies (a reply...if any)...

I'm not entirely sure to what this refers, but it might be a reference to the Stargate Academy questions near the beginning of the question list (just before CotG) (I haven't read this thread, so I'm not sure) -- if that's not it - then someone else might know for sure...

This, I think, was from when the site changed - there were changes made and some users had 'bonus points' that they could convert from the old site into naquadah or something on the new one. (And one of them will correct me if I'm wrong on this)

Most users who come from Ausgate *try* to use a name similar to their Ausgate name - they don't all do that, but many do. If they don't, and they post in the Ausgate section here at ASciFi, they're *probably* an Ausgate member, but not necessarily - if you're not sure - ask.

This one I'm not sure on, but the Duty Log thread may have more info --

Ummmm --- guess that depends on what you don't know!

5.5) Are there other sites (particularly forums) that are also related to Ausgate?
The only other one I know of, is the Gamma Site - there's a link to it from Ausgate, I believe.

Well, I'm not - I don't have much time for gaming outside Ausgate. And, Allan will attest to this, so will Geekman, I haven't actually had much time for Ausgate until recently (yes, bad me) -- and ASciFi is the only 'scifi' board I visit. I have other message boards, but not SG-1 related ---

Hey - I read through lots of posts! (esp in any sections I specifically moderate, or those that I've said I'll help out on - like Ausgate - b/c Allan's so busy w/ all his other hats ) - so, I read it - responded too -- b/c I do that sometimes.

I don't have all the answers, but I can tell you what I do know -- hey, not bad for someone who hadn't been on the site but about 4 times in over 6 months until recently --

Yes, this applied to the OLD site. It was a particular type of Flash game which has been replaced, sort of, with the Tile game, known variously as "Silers Circuits" or MALPS (which is what they were known as on a totally different SG-1 site that has since closed)

Again, this applied explicitly to the old site. It MAY happen on the new one, since we ARE collecting Bonus points. If you click your own name at the bottom of the Ausgate screen, towards the bottom the "Bonus Points" is listed. Currently there is nothing to do with them, but the site is continually being developed and improved, so I would expect something eventually.

MOST people use the same name on Ausgate as on ASciFi. But there are exceptions - not least me: my "full name" is QµìzzÃ*ãrd P'Teppic, and I use the first name on Ausgate, the surname on ASciFi. For any other differences, I think its just experience - or asking people!

4) DUTY LOG? What is this? (Should I be asking this in the "New and Improved Duty Log" thread?)
As far as I can tell, the Duty Log is an independent site, but I think the intention is for Ausgate people to chat. As suggested, try logging in to find out?

There are sites for the Faction Owners and a separate one for those scoring more than a million points, both of which you'll find out about if you progress that far. For the majority, there is the Ausgate Delta Site, http://www.msnusers.com/AusgateDeltaSite/ , and also the Ausgate Gamma Site, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ausgategammasite/
I can't remember how you get to join - I think you just click on the link and join up. The Delta site in particular has an interactive chat site that sometimes sees a group of Ausgaters getting together.

Duty Log

Pteppic, you're correct that it is an independant site and is open to everyone. Also the site is for people from Ausgate to gather and chat about anything and everything, except cybering.

Wink Reply

Thank you kindly for the replies!

Since I didn't know about these bboards, I didn't use my ausgate name. For reference, I'm "Arno". Yes, just Arno. And no faction.
Thanks again!

Wait! Training things with Daniel? What am I missing here? Um, where would I find those? Sounds like they are separate from the location points....

Thanks,
Nys.

Talking

Before the site was updated, we had Daniel Jackson translations game to do; but they weren't included when the site was updated. So, we no longer can get skill points for them. We now have the malp's to help in getting more skill points. They are located in different episodes. Hope that helped in answering your question.:blpaw:

Talking Question

I know battles won't be up for a while but they are coming.
My question: Will the Daniel translations be coming back?! :rolly2: That would be cool.

Thanks Capri, that does help. (I stink at the malps so I was looking for another way to get points - lol.)

They were a flash-based "quiz" which asked players to translate some text from different languages (e.g. heiroglyphics) into English. I think there were problems with them, technically...
