Re: Spiderman 2

My husband and I just saw Spiderman 2 last night. We both enjoyed it very much. Any idea how many Spiderman movies they will be making?

Re: Spiderman 2

Oh, great - that's got the film over-hyped already.

I'll wait for it on DVD, then buy it for my better half.

Is it a forgone conclusion that we will see Green Goblin 2? Perhaps we will get the Hobgoblin?
I agree, it seems like The Lizard is next. I would prefer not seeing Green Goblin 2 though because I really don't think James Franco has the acting chops to make a good bad guy. He barely has the acting skills to handle the role he's in much less trying to fill Dafoe's shoes. Plus, if we do see Green Goblin 2 and the Hobgoblin in seperate films they would tend to dominate the franchise overall and those characters were always my least favorite of Spidey's villians.

I haven't heard or read anything that this is going to happen. With the Daredevil movie having already shown him I think Raimi will avoid it.

I was thinking the same thing both times I saw it! He appears to be dying but they cut away before you see him eat it for good so anything can be possible.

I really can't believe there are three more movies planned though, sheesh, the last one wouldn't come out until at least 2013...I just can't see Tobey's hairline holding up that long nor do I think it would be easy for a 38 year old to play a young man in his early twenties...I wonder if cast changes will be made before the last one outside of Dunst already planning to leave after the next one.

I agree, have the Goblin characters in 3 of the films would really be an unwise move. Plus in retrospect, didnt you find that the Green Goblin really didn't transfer to the big screen anywhere near as well as Doc Ock?

Excellent! I am so glad it wasn't just me thinking that!!!
I hope we are right, an epic and (half) unexpected return in a later movie (at a pivotal moment of course) would be magnificent!

Yeah does make you wonder doesn't it. With regards Dunst leaving, do you think they will simply continue without MJ being around? I do hope they dont cast someone else to play her, I hate when they do that. Not sure how they are going to tackle Toby's increasing age though!!?! I'm not sure it would work to simply write it into the plot, but hoping the audience just wont notice it would not be wise either. Is it possible we will see the introduction of a new love interest for Spidey in the next film?

Did anyone see the new animated Spiderman series, which was set between the first two films? I thought it was superb, in many respects I enjoyed it more than the first movie, anybody know if a second series is planned between the second and third movies?

Yes, and I had a feeling he wouldn't when I first read about him being the first villain. William DaFoe did a great job in the role though...

I was thinking when I noticed that scene that they may have planned that after seeing how awesome Molina was in roll. I can see it happening for sure.

You know, I doubt they will cast another girl in the role. I think they are setting something up with Betty Brant, I'm no expert on the comic's full story line but I did read somewhere that she was a love interest in the comics to some degree. The way she acts with Peter in the film (the nice smiles, the hand on the shoulders when J. Jonah fired and re-hired Peter, etc.) seems to indicate a bigger role in the future. To tell you the truth, she is about ten times hotter than Dunst imo so I wouldn't mind seeing her more.

If your talking about the MTV CGI animated series then yes, it was outstanding. I enjoyed it as much as the movies as well!

Re: Post-Spiderman 2 discussion (dont look if you dont want plot spoliers!!!)

So, has anyone found out why Alfred Molina didn't put on a German/Austrian accent for Doc Ock??? And Why has he become just Doc Ock, and not Doctor Octopus???

HAHAHAH, like what people have said about James Franco, he couldn't look or act as mental as Willem Dafoe - that bloke has made a career of that look, just like John Malcovich!!!

So, what has been said about future films??? Any tie-ins with X-Men, Hulk, Fantastic Four (though I keep wanting to say Famous Five, for some reason), Daredevil???

Did they have Doctor Connors in the second film (I know he was mentioned in passing in the first), about to turn into Croc (I always mix him up with Killer Croc from Batman)??? Where is King Pin??? Are all the super heroes in New York??? How come they don't seem to meet???

So many villains and so few films likely, before they have to change actors!!! BRING ON THE RED SKULL!!! BWAHAHAHA!!!

Where is Venom, the best thing that happened to Spider-man in many a day!!! And Carnage!!! Make the movie certificate an 18!!! WOOHOO!!!

Can't wait to see the movie on Tuesday...

Re: Spiderman 2

I'm definitely planning on seeing that one. I already like the first one, so there's a good chance I'll like this one, too. And the best of it: I'll go see it in the one language I never had any problem understanding!!!! (And no, that's not English...)

Wow this thread is OLD!! LOL

Went to see spiderman 2 last night, was very good. Special effects were amazing. spoiler alert below (just in case - as no film thread available).

Alfred Molina was brilliant as Dr Otto Octavius. Obviously the story between Peter and MJ is still ongoing. (with the on-off romance/love etc.

Harry Osbourn is the person who helps finance Dr Octavius's project. Donna Murphy plays his wife - Mrs Octavius. The one particular scene which I thought brilliant was the tube/train/the El. Spiderman was attacked by Octavius and ended up on the train. Octavius damages the train which goes into overdrive. Spiderman has to save it. The effects were fantastic in this scene.

Hope someone goes to see it soon or posts here too.

ditto to everything you said! just saw it for the second time last night.

but...

i was watching a bit of oprah when toby and kirsten were on, and we couldn't help but notice how angry they seemed to be at each other. apparently the two of them dated for a bit during the filming of the original but only for a short time. apparently kirsten feels that toby tried to use the relationship to further his career. (like making him look more macho) also, she's been dating Jake Gyllenhaal for a while now, and from my understanding he and toby are pretty close friends (or at least they used to be....)

Re: Spiderman 2

Definitely better than the first one and I actually found Daredevil very disappointing.

My one nitpick was when Peter Parker refused to help a guy being mugged. Come on, any self respecting individual would have jumped in and helped the guy. He seemed to be in the mind set of "you can only help if you have super powers".

Re: Spiderman 2

[edit by I, Brian]************ SPOILERS ALERT **************[/edit]

I watched Spider-Man 2 today...

Hmmmm, I was a little perplexed by the mugging scene, and then later runs into a burning building?!?!?

And the fact of him showing nearly all of New York who he was!!! I can't see that happening... Especially since he was going to great lengths to keep his identity secret from MJ and Aunt May!!!

But, NO, all the people on the train, DOCTOR OCTOPUS, Harry Osbourn... Then MJ just happens to see, and they have that heart-to-heart - lousy scene, by the way!!!

And that Wedding Dress - YIKES!!! What a horrible thing!!!

I see that they brought in John Jameson... Possible space mission and Venom on the horizon??? And Doctor Connors - so a certain reptile, eh???

But no Eddie Brock???

I like the J Johan Jameson character, such a pain in the backside!!! But soooooo funny!!! And cheap!!! HAHAHA!!!

Will Parker move back in with Aunt May??? Or is the house gone???

All in all, a damn fine film... Fight scenes were excellent, shame about Donna whats-her-face, sliced by the glass - but nothing on the corpse (that I could see)!!!!

And the vertigo attack was quite good...

jake has been in a few recognizable movies like bubble boy, donnie darko, the good girl, and more recently the day after tomorrow.

but yeah, i can't really see the two of them together either. something else i found out, kirsten only got the role of mj after kate hudson turned it down....now i REALLY don't see kate hudson in this role...

spiderman 2

spoiler warnings....
ok, i've seen this film twice now and i still love it. one thing though, peter tries to read poetry to get mj to fall for him, and then he screws it up later by saying 'punch me, i bleed' in stead of 'cut me...' it's supposed to be kind of funny, the thing is that line has become so cliche over the years the most people don't remember that it comes from poetry, and both times i saw this the only response from people around me was 'that was a bad line'

I loved this film! I reckon Toby's better in this one and the special effects are great. The train scene was amazing when the passengers caught him before they fall and carried him in. If he carries on like that everyone in New York is going to know who he is!
