Convention News While posting some news from a recent convention I noticed that for every convention note we seem to start a new thread. Hopefully, we can be better housekeepers than that. This thread is for all convention news, old & new, US-UK-etc.

Eclipse - London - June 2002 Here some news from the BBCi site. Buffy News 10 June 2002 Giles and Cordy wow fans Charisma Carpenter and Tony Head were amongst the stars wowing UK Buffy fans at the Eclipse convention held in London this weekend. Despite jet lag caused by appearing at events on both sides of the Atlantic in one weekend, Tony had the thousand strong audience in tears as he teamed up with old nemesis Robin (Ethan Rayne) Sachs for a hilarious (and rather adult) question and answer session. Charisma swapped make-up tips with her female fans, whilst urging them not to expect a Buffy/Angel reunion any time soon. "Get over it, not gonna happen," she said. Other highlights included Danny (Johnathan) Strong and George (Adam) Hertzberg's tongue-in-cheek attempts to lure the more glamorous female fans to Danny's room after their talk, and Danny's revelation that George constantly loves to fool him and J.August (Gunn) Richards with prank phone calls. Danny also revealed that he would be joined by the rest of his evil troika - Tom (Andrew) Lenk and Adam (Warren) Busch - for a UK event later this year. With a charity auction of original vampire prosthetics raising thousands of pounds, a great insight into writing for Buffy by author Christopher Golden and some late and lively costume parties and discos, the event was another big success for organisers Sector 14. Keep checking the site for more photos from the event soon.

It's that time again... DRAGONCON!!! The HUGE 4-day convention for all things Sci-Fi held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA will take place this Labor Day holiday weekend. Again this year there is a Buffy "track" - that means that they have planned Buffy-related activities for every minute of the convention. You can spend Friday through Monday immersed in Buffy with a bevy of fans. Kind of a Buffy convention within a convention. Besides the normal panel discussions and games they will have some very clever Buffy stuff: - an all-night Buffy video "slumber party" for Friday night. - Buffy videos created by fans using recorded music and set to clips from the show. - a Buffy Halloween party (I hope is goes better than the usual Buffy Halloween parties.) - a fan film shot during the weekend and shown on Monday. - a Buffy Christmas where fans bring gifts related to the show and bearing the names of characters from the show that will be placed under a tree and exchanged among those that contribute a gift. (For instance a book about magic with a personal message from "Willow" inside.) - And my favorite - a "Rocky Horror"-style presentation of the musical "Once More, With Feeling" where non-professional "actors" will recreate the show as a stage play while the actual video will play on a giant screen behind them. And, of course, what would DRAGONCON be without a bunch of guest stars? This year they will have in attendance: Andy "Lorne" Hallett Danny "Jonathan" Strong James "Clem" Leary Iyari "Kennedy" Limon AND [insert dramatic pause here] James "Spike" Marsters!!!! I don't know how much of the show I will be able to attend because it is a real marathon (when do these people sleep?), but I will try to get in the best stuff. I will take pictures and especially try to catch the Spike. I'll report back when its over. If anyone is planning to attend please let me know.

I can't make it -- but I can add to what you've got there - On Saturday night - 30 Aug - the band that James is a member of (note - it's not 'James' band' and he won't say it is either) - Ghost of the Robot - will be performing. So, if you've been dying to see them and will be in the area / at the con -- GO TO THE SHOW! ![]() AND!! Since James did the readings for the audiobooks, this is relevent -- Jim Butcher, author of the Dresden Files (Storm Front, Fool Moon, Grave Peril, Summer Knight, Death Masks) will also be in attendance. The audiobook for "Fool Moon" will be available at the con too!

So, I'm at the first night of DRAGONCON with a friend of mine, sitting at one of the hotel bars trying to catch our breath. We are sitting at one-half of two tables joined together and space at the bar is very precious. A short, pretty brunette sits down at the other half of the table across from me. She is talking to a man standing next to her and she is mostly turned away from me. I whispered to my friend, "That woman sitting next to you looks like Kennedy." Off-handly my friend answers, "We're at DRAGONCON, it could be her." "Yeah, right", I thought, sarcastically. When the woman looked around the bar, I got a good look and said to myself, "Oh my God, IT IS HER." So when she wasn't talking and looked towards us again, I politely asked for an autograph and now I have a DRAGONCON schedule guide with a cover signed by Iyari Limon - "Kennedy". I'll let you know if anything else interesting happens, but that's already a high point for me. Weird Karma to just be sitting there and have a Buffy star come and sit next to us.
