Ill have to weigh in on the side of respectfully disagreeing. Without Arya we would have very little idea of what was going on in Westeros, at least first hand. Through her eyes we have seen, Gregor Clegane, Sandor Clegane, the death of Yoren, the brutality of the Lannister Bannermen, Rorge, Biter, Gendry, Beric Dondarrion & the brotherhood, Jaqen
and Syrio, Harrenhall, Roose Bolton, the Brave Companions....well...etcetera.
Plus given the fact that she appears on her way to becomming one of the faceless, I daresay she IS one of the main plot lines.
The main plotline is all well and good, Im interested in travelling down the road that leads to the conclusion too, but sometimes you find interesting things along the way...off to the side of the road...that you just have to investigate. Moments like Roose's leeches for example, lend nothing to the plot, but really fill the story out and give it more color.
This is all, of course, IMHO.
