Things that make you grin

Not sure if there is another thread like this in here but I couldn't find one. There are already threads for things that annoy us, so why not one about things that make us happy?

One thing that never fails to make me laugh is my little girl singing along with her favorite song in the car. There is something about a three year old singing along to "Let's Get Retarded" by the Black Eyed Peas that cracks me up. Imagine her little voice......"C'mon y'all, let's get retarded yeah!"

I just read dwndrgn's advice what to do if you have an headache. That made me smile. As does the friendliness of the people on this board in general.

Besides that I always smile when I hear my boyfriend's voice. It's one of those completely silly lovey-dovey smiles. I hope they'll never stop. It just makes me incredibly happy to know he's there, although 800 km far away, but he's there, thinks of me and loves me.

I think it's the small things in life that make us happy.

There are lots of those. I'll start with a few of my favorites:

Waking up in the middle of the night and then realizing that you still have hours left to sleep!

Playing tug o' war with the dogs.

Watching the cats go after flies or lizards or anything really.

The beautiful sunrise and sunsets I see here in Florida.

Getting something in the mail (got two books from Barnes & Noble yesterday!) that isn't junk mail. A letter, a postcard, a magazine, a free sample...I just love mail!

Those rare moments when you spot something unusual or special in nature. A couple of weeks ago I watched a large owl fly into a tree directly in front of me. He/she was beautiful and I couldn't pull myself away until it flew off. I've never seen an owl outside of a zoo or natural life exhibit so this was special for me.

My children when they are acting especially silly.

My dogs. Yesterday, for example, they were playing outside in their little doggie pool( this is one of those little plastic kiddie pools). I will throw one or two of their toys in it and they will jump in and try to pick the toys up out of the water. They were acting so silly about it, that I was laughing my butt off.

Watching the birds play in the bird bath, basically anything to do with animals.

Laughing babies also make me smile.

And, to be completely sentimental, thinking of my husband.

I know this shouldn't be funny but my daughter has a habit that just makes me laugh. If she wants something or wants to do something and isn't getting her way, she stamps her foot and says "DAMMIT Momma!" I admit, she got dammit from me....and she shouldn't be saying it but...outta the mouth of babes it's hilarious

My cousins never fail to cheer me up. One of the few constants I have.

I'm going to Israel in October, so I'm very happy and excited at the moment. I might be going to Pisa, too, in July.... I havn't been anywhere except here for years, so I'm excited. Hmmm.... odd things make me happy, like my garden doing well. All my roses are looking great, although the bloody pigeons are eating my rasberrys... I need some bells to scare them off but I can't find any. Alcohol makes me very happy, too, but really must stop that as its becoming a habit.

My son, when he does something incredibly sweet...
My wife, when she is in a daft mood...
Being on here, when all the maniacs are in a spamming mood!!!
Getting one over of someone (though I seem to be losing to Devillishgirl - but I'll bet you - some day, some how!!! Okay, I know I'll never beat her!!!)
Insulting Morning Star - he is really good at it!!!
A really good flirt, that is resiprocated!!!
Sci-Fi/Fantasy... (Isn't that why we are all here???)
A really hot summers day when fashions become skimpy!!!
Watching the wildlife in my garden...
Going on holiday to Cumbria - the hills, and the quiet!!! (very soothing)

I'm sure there are many more, but I can't think of them!!!

Fluffy kittens. I can't look at a cat without picking it up and hugging it. It's like an illness.

Today, I'm grinning because I am going to pick up my kids tomorrow morning!!! They've been with their grandparents all week and I miss them like crazy!
