Re: Who was the better character in the films? I liked Gollum best. Especially in the scene in the second film where he has his 'monologe'. From the characters up there i would choose Boromir. The actor did a great job on one side being under the influence of the ring but on the oter fighting it.

Re: Who was the better character in the films? I really couldn't make my mind between Gandalf and Sam. I think they are quite different, but they both gived themselves away and made sacrifices for other members of fellowship. They are charackters, who keep this emotional line in the story, they are true friends... but I still voted for Gandalf, maybe I have fallen under some sort of spell? Definitely sharming one...

Re: Who was the better character in the films? In the books i always loved legolas and gimli, i really like how their friendship developed from disliking and untrusting, to being great friends, however i think in the movies the character of legolas was somehow inferier to his character in the books (but that may have been down to my interpretation of him in the books). i would have 2 say that of the fellowship in the films i thought boromir was the best. Sean Bean played boromir perfectly in my opinion, showing very clearly how he was a good man, and how the ring drove him to madness. I especially like the end of the fellowship when he was talking to frodo in the woods, just before he tried to take the ring... superb acting. ![]()

Re: Who was the better character in the films? Gandalf was done perfectly. I didn't actually dislike any of them, and was quite impressed with most of the acting (especially considering some of the props weren't actually there), but Ian McKellen was flawless, and did an amazing job of portraying the character.

Re: Who was the better character in the films? I thought Gandalf was the truest to my idea of Gandalf. In other word he was the way I imagined him whilst reading the book. Honourable Mention to Bernard Hill for Theoden. I thought he made the character sad, noble, desperate and ultimatly brave. A lot stronger than the Theoden of the book, and a character I would have liked to have seen more of. ..and of course Gollum.

Re: Who was the better character in the films? Gandalf was really the best character of the film. He carried with him a sense of togetherness. Without gandalf there wasn't really a felllowship. The minute gandalf fell into shadows the fellowship was ripped apart. He deserves utmost respect. ![]()
