Dug out some old CDs not listened to for years...the Cure:
Staring at the Sea
Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me
Lovely sense of fun in a lot of them - Caterpillar and Lovecats for certain - and a great sense of variation. I am really going to have to chase down some more Cure.
Not sure what's happening to them these days - last I heard (mid-90's?) there have been a serious bust-up over credits and song rights among the band. Either way, I somehow suspect that Robert Smith long ago shelved the eye-liner.

Re: The Cure
I've followed them since 83 and have never been disappointed. Their new album 'The Cure' comes out on the 29th of June here in the states.
My only complaint with them is that their album covers seem to get worse with each release...the latest one being the worst overall.

Re: The Cure
The only albums I am familiar with are a singles collection (Staring At The Sea?), Wild Mood Swings - a suitably varied mix of songs, and Bloodflowers - a beautiful, bleak album with some real epics on it, like Watching Me Fall and the title track, as well as the pretty, poignant Where The Birds Always Sing.
I did not realise that they were still around - somehow had the impression that they split after Bloodflowers.
I do believe that Robert Smith still sports eyeliner, by the way, but considerably toned down.
