[Sammy O'Neill: how would i go about making an audio cd of it?]

You need someone with a CD-writer. The software for those usually includes a utility to turn MP3s into audio CDs.

[Sammy O'Neill: And i still havent found anything for Tara's song.]

That site has the MP3 for Tara's song.

well, when I saw the episode, it was the short version - and I really don't remember much about it - except Spike singing and being surprised by it - I wasn't much into Buffy at that time, I only watched b/c the musical ep sounded funny --

So, most of what I actually 'know' of the episode is from the MP3s and the transcript. So, I wasn't sure which parts were cut and which ones weren't ---

I loved all of the songs, except for "I'm under your spell". I love Tara's voice, but the song was a bit boring.
I voted for "Walk through the fire". It was close between that and "Standing in the way". I love SitW because Giles has such a great voice, and the song was so sad and meaningful. But I also love WTtF because everybody sang on it, and it seemed very strong or something with everyone banding together. It also just had a very catchy tune, I keep finding myself humming it!

One question - why does everyone call the demon 'Sweet'? I thought he was called Lord of the Dance or something. Well that's what Tara called him, and that's the only time I heard anyone call him anything.

I don't know if you got to see the long version of this episode, but in it, there is a little song that Buffy starts right after "I Have A Theory". It's called, "What Can't We Face?" that sings about how the Scoobies can beat any threat. It's also a great "team" song - very uplifting and strong.

[little smaug: ...why does everyone call the demon 'Sweet'? I thought he was called Lord of the Dance or something. Well that's what Tara called him...]

That very true.

TARA: Willow said they have a lead on the whole musical extravaganza evil. This demon that can be summoned, some sort of Lord of the Dance. Oh, but not the scary one. Just a demon.

Some of us refer to him as "Sweet" because that was the name that was used for his character in the script, although no one actually says his name in the episode.

Wow, really? If i had to pick one song to to listen to for eternity, this would be it! I love it to bits so sweet and catchy, and she has a beautiful voice that you just arent expecting from such a "shy" character (compared to the others anyways). Its surprising what a good voice she has!

I actually bought the Bufy 6:1 boxset today and it has the Musical on it, and i cant wait to see it cos i get to see the intro that my friend accidentally didnt tape last time Plus, i get to see the cut scene from Smashed (at least i think thats its uncut?)

OK, so I am resurrecting an old thread, but I just re-watched this episode (and have been listening to the cd - thanks to you-know-who).

I really thought it was a genius episode, and the songs were just too perfect, every single one was so suited to the events and the characters that sang them...

I notice that our resident mods have not deigned to tell us what they voted for in the poll!

My vote went for "I wish I could stay", which is just perfect. I didn't really like Amber's voice that much, even though I was quite keen on her spotlight song "I'm under your spell". However, when you put her together with ASH, with the two songs complimented each other (so sue me, I know nothing about musical jargon) and merged together beautifully, both in tune and content.

And you lot ragging on Dawn - give me a break! I think that her little "Does anyone even notice... Does anyone even care", was lovely. I can't imagine anyone not liking it, especially if they liked most of the other songs in the ep.
In fact I wish someone would tell me there was a full length version of this song hidden in a deleted scene or something. I think Michelle T has a beautiful voice that we didn't get to hear enough of.

Funniest song is a tie between Anya's Bunnies riff and Xander and Anya's duet. I have been spotted laughing my head off to both of these on the bus on the way to work.

And since I am on a roll, I have another question. Does anyone think that SMG's voice was maybe a little 'tinkered with'? There are one or two sections where her singing reminds me of Cher's electronic-filtering thingy in "I still believe" etc.
Not that I have any problem with it - she is the star of the show after all, it wouldn't really do for her to sound terrible

Adding to Ob's descrip of what was cut --

4. the 2nd verse of "Rest In Peace" is completely eliminated. They cut from the end of the 1st chorus to the bridge - and you can TELL that something is missing. *pout*

Yeah - I noticed that the mods haven't said yet what their faves were --- I don't know if mark ever voted, honestly - dunno if ob did either ---

Just realised that there is also no mention of "Where do we go from here?", which I liked a lot. I suppose we didn't get to hear that much, but from a visual perspective, they did do that funky move where they lined up and grabbed the hand of the person next to them ('Understand we'll go hand in hand, but we'll walk alone in fear') - I liked that bit.
