Spider-Man Surprised to see no threads for this movie here. I just saw it last night, and fancied a bit of a chat about it. Note - spoilerage will be contained if you haven't seen this movie yet! Outline from IMDB A rather odd thing has just just occurred in the life of nerdy high school student Peter Parker; after being bitten by a radioactive spider, his body chemistry is mutagenically altered in that he can scale walls and ceilings, and he develops a "spider-sense" that warns him of approaching danger. Adopting the name "Spider-Man", Peter first uses his newfound powers to make money, but after his uncle is murdered at the hands of a criminal Peter failed to stop, he swears to use his powers to fight the evil that killed his uncle. At the same time, scientist and businessman Norman Osborn, after accidental exposure to an experimental nerve gas, develops an alternate personality himself; the super-strong, psychotic Green Goblin! Peter Parker must now juggle three things in his life; his new job at the local newspaper under a perpetually on-edge employer, his battle against the evil Green Goblin, and his fight to win the affections of beautiful classmate Mary Jane Watson, against none other than his best friend Harry Osborn, son of Norman Osborn! Is this challenge too much for even the amazing Spider-Man to handle? IMDB Page I thought this movie was fab. If any of you saw Saturday Night Live a few weeks ago, you will remember them slagging off Tobey Maguire's very relaxed (read 'slow') character, and were suggesting that SPider-Man might be lacking in some excitement because of this. Well, yah boo sucks to them, this movie was great. Tobey Maguire was pitch perfect (although I am a longtime fan!) as the Peter Parker/Spider-Man. The special effects were pretty incredible - particularly the shots of Spider-Man swooping through the city, apart from the fact that real people can't move like that, it was almost real-looking. Favourite moments for me were: Peter discovering his new powers (funny!) No, you got my name wrong, I'm the Human Spider  Every appearance of J. Jonah Jameson ![]()

I just saw Spidey too and i loved it! I agree with you on Jonah jameson's appearances Tabitha. I thought he was an extreme;y funny character who actually was very worthy person. At first glance you'ld think he would sell his own mother to get a good story, but when the Green Goblin asks who takes Spidey's photos he denies knowing who it is with the threat of death on him. He gets a thumbs up from me for being like that. was it just me or did Stan Lee actually get a face on the times Square scene? I read that his scene was cut with him trying to sell Spidey some glasses, but for continuity reasons he would have remained on set, so I am guessing that I did see him in the crowd when the GG attacks Times Square.

Not sure about Stan Lee's appearance - Although I can tell you an interesting tid-bit about the Times Square scene, apparently the companies that advertise on those billboards in real life have entered into legal proceedings over how the movie replaced their ad's with others ones digitally! Talk about blurring the line between fact and fiction! Stan Lee has loads of cameos! I just watched Mallrats recently - and he is in that as himself for about 10 minutes! JJ - I was quite impressed that he didn't tell GG who took the pictures too! Good on 'im ![]()

is that the actor that played Harry Osbourne? If so, I agree with you, he was kind of bland. And it was actually quite hard to really understand his motives. Maybe a few of his scenes ended up on the cutting room floor or something? I would imagine he will be coming back for the sequels.

yeah that's the kid. i mean, i've seen him be good in other movies, just not this one. like the seen with his father where his father insults MJ. he didn't seem to really care at all. i just couldn't feel any emotions from him.

I thought this was a great movie and I was surprised that it got 4 stars. Because the critics usually don't give 4 stars unless the movie is unbelievably boring. Anyway, I think Tobey Maguire did a great and totally believable job. I can't wait to see the next one!

Ok, ok, I finally got around to seeing Spiderman today and I thought it was pretty cool! There aren't too many films that I watch at the cinema without looking at my watch two or three (or even ten) times. I only looked once! (That's a good thing! It means I wasn't bored, just curious as to what time it was) Anyway, I like the story and the action was great. The digtal animated spiderman looked a little strange to me at times, but still, it's amazing watch we can create these days. I really enjoyed William Dafoe as the Green Goblin/Norman Osborn. Is it true the are making 2 (or is it 3) more? I can't wait for the next one! ![]()
