Cast for Earthsea set The cast is set and apparently production has begun. They plan to air the miniseries in December of this year on Scifi. http://www.scifi.com/earthsea/updates/

Re: Cast for Earthsea set Do you have access to a library, Brian? The Earthsea books are good of course but I suspect you should try one of her three great sf works - The Left hand of Darkness, The Disposessed or The Lathe of Heaven - first.

Re: Cast for Earthsea set Sounds good. I can't wait. The Disposessed is a very good utopian-dystopian novel. Very thought provoking. The Left Hand of Darkness is very good too, but many of my friends who have read it don't like it. They disliked the lack of action. But Le Guin isn't famous for action though...

Re: Cast for Earthsea set I'd love to read some Ursula le Guinn - but I am so pressed for time at the moment. Maybe one day...that's why TV would be so accessible - a a couple of hours max, rather than lots of hours over a few days reading. Gosh, that sounds so incredibly sub-intellectual, but its a true reflection of my rushed life.

Re: Cast for Earthsea set Just had a look at the cast and their photo's - whoever selected Ged needs a good kicking. Ged is a vulunerable yet powerful individual - this guy looks like the All american 'action-kid'

Re: Cast for Earthsea set Having read the trilogy I was very disappointed in how the TV movie was done. They tried to combine the first two books into a two part mini-series and lost a lot in the process. Even Ursula herself said she was very disappointed in how it turned out.

If the Earthsea series could've been made along silmiar production standards to the recent Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe it would be worth checking out. Then again we're talkng flim vs. TV, 2 different mediums. | |
