I wonder does the protocol ever take into account that the Slayer might not be doing her job. I mean it was only luck that Buffy was revived, if not her generation would be without a Slayer, cos Faith was in jail. And what would happen if the chosen one just decided she didn't want to be chosen. Seems like they need a back up plan.

well - the way everything was presented, I'm gonna guess that there really hadn't been much need for 'contingency' plans prior to Buffy and Faith. Kendra seems to be the more 'typical' Slayer - the one who knows her duty and does it -

Buffy and Faith are the 'odd balls' of the Slayer group - and the Watcher's Council probably hasn't had to deal with two Slayers like these. So, they might be ready to call a new one - dunno -

and this is all just my ramblings, I could be totally off here--

I agree that Kendra seemed to be a very typical slayer - but she dies after what, a year of being a slayer. Didn't she mention that she had been training most of her life to become the slayer?

I wonder what the average age at death would be for vamp slayers? Amazing that they are able to be very effective at all...

Buffy says in one ep that she comes from a line of 'something' who never live past the age of 25 ----

so - my guess is 20-ish is about as far as they get ---
