Site Rebuild - update

Hi All,

The site rebuild is coming along fine. There are a few things I want to share with you about the new site before it becomes live so everyone has prior notice.

You may or may not like some of the changes I am implementing, but really, I think the site is way too easy and there isn't enough of a challenge to it.

It seems way to easy to collect things and build up your resources, but there isn't enough 'Risk' on the site, and not many ways to use or possibly lose some of what you have.

TRAVEL

The first major change will be in the travel section. Most of it will be the same... You will get a base 5 activations per hour, and an extra 5 if you hold a GDO.

BUT... If you have used up your activations, the normal 'Naquadah reator' activations are still possible, but travel within the curent episode has changed. Any travels to any destination within the episode that are on the same world are free, but any destinations off-world will fall under a new section called 'Offering to the Gods'. To travel to these destinations you will need to 'Offer' 5% of your Trinium to travel to these places.

One thing I HAVE offered extra is if you hold a Naquadah Reactor, you will get 1 bonus travel per hour for every 10% that your reactor is charged.

So if you hold a GDO and a Naquadah eactor at 100% power, you will now get 20 activations per hour, instead of the old 10.

RULE CHANGES

I will be changing some of the rules for the site, and everyone will get the completed version prior to the new site going live.

The biggest change will be that I am going to set the persona rule to 1 persona (account) per person, unless specifically requested with a very good and valid reason as to why you would need more than 1 account.

All emails will need to be verified before you can enter the new site, so anyone who has their email already verified because they are in a faction are fine... no need to do it again.

POINT SYSTEM
Now, I know this one will upset a lot of people, but the way your overall site score is calculated is going to change slightly.

It is currently skill + experience + trinium + 2% of your naquadah

The new system will be skill + experience + 5% Trinium + 2% naquadah + naquadriah x 10

Naquadriah as you could probably guess will be very rare, and very hard to find and obtain.

This new system will reduce the number of points that you currently have, but should retain current site positions. Some may change slightly.

That's about it for now... Gotta keep working

Sorry, I'm a little confused. Doesn't only 1% of our naquadah count towards rank points right now?

Well, little mistake on my part.... It has actually been 2% all along. I have no idea why I worked it out as 1%

It's 1 point for every 50 naquadah... which is 2% (2 in 100)

I do apologise for my lack of brain functions

I'm sure it'll be great. Don't burn yourself out, now. Sleep is good... (Sleep? What is sleep?)

GDO idea?

Here's a thought....Please don't throw tomatoes unless they are ripe then please aim for the net behind me:rolly2:

Currently, the GDO is a found item and it doesn't matter if its 3%, 58% or 100% it still works and you can't recharge it.

How about if you use it (on the rebuilt site) it loses 1% per hour of use and when it gets to 0% it has worn out and you lose it. So then you just have to find another?

You could also say that if its used with a Naq reactor held then it doesn't lose its 1%???

Are you sure about the naquadah percentage?

I ask because if I sell a reactor for 20800 grams, I make approx. 200 rank points which equates to 1%. If it was 2% of your naquadah, I would get in the region of 400 rank points! (which would be nice!)

SD, Pretty sure about it... But I could be wrong. Anyway, the new site will be 2%

BCR, Yest that is X (times) 10, so if you have 100 naquadriah, you will get 1000 points.

PO, Hmmm... The horror stories i've heard there. I'm really wary about having something where people can publically blurt out anything they want. But there will be a sort of message board in the new faction area in the future.

just a question to PO -

why would we need a 'chat' section on Ausgate? we have this - the beta site - and it's fairly fast - not quite the same as a real-time chat, but faster than the Duty Roster on Ryan's site that you have to refresh each time to see if someone new posted -

however, setting up a chatroom, off-site, and linking to it from Ausgate might be an option --- it will require some moderators, most likely, but, again, i'm not really sure anything of that kind is necessary ---

Talking Points System Change

OK, I have looked at a few things, and heard views from numerous people.

Now, to keep most happy, so that ranks will remain almost exactly the same, I have come up with a points structure as follows.

This will be enacted once the new site goes live, and your details are transferred from the old database to the new one.

The following example uses my site details to explain.

I will leave Naquadah at 1%, make trinium 20%, and make up the difference in Naquadria to ratain ranking points.

CURRENTLY
Naquadah (1%) - 2395579 (23955 points)
Trinium (all) - 13044 (13044 points)
Experience (all) - 44756 (44756 points)
Skill (all) - 709 (709 points)
Total - 82464 points

NEW SITE
Naquadah (1%) - 2395579 (23955 points)
Trinium (20%) - 13044 (2608 points)
Experience (all) - 44756 (44756 points)
Skill (all) - 709 (709 points)
Sub Total - 72028 points

Bonus Naquadria (x10) - 1043 (10430 points)

Total - 82458 Points (8 points difference)

From Then on, the new site will show and distribute random items, based on the point value ratio.

So, for every 100 random items found on the site, you can expect the breakdown to be this (or very close to it) (this excludes inventory and glyph items)...

item - %/100 (minimum points/maximum points)

Naquadah 70/100 (7/14) Max per find = 20 grams
Trinium 25/100 (5/50) Max per find = 10 grams
Naquadria 5/100 (50/250) Max per find = 5 grams

I just want to also mention that this is my final decision on this.

Casper, I think you are getting your Naquadah and Naquadriah mixed up.
