yep - i was digging around looking to see what rerun of Buffy we'd be getting here in the States next week (and which day i get to see Buffy THIS week) when i came across the following: Hollywood Squares -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apr 23 12:37am Series/Game Shows, 30 Mins. Episode #4146. Anthony Stewart Head (``Buffy the Vampire Slayer''), Picabo Street, Ricki Lake, Jack Hanna and Christopher McDonald. Producer(s): Whoopi Goldberg, John Moffitt, Pat Tourk Lee. Original Airdate: April 22, 2002. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <swiped from yahoo.com's tv listings> not sure exactly what's up w/ the 'original airdate' thing, but it'll be on the week of 23 April - 27 April 2002 on ABC networks -- so - watch if you'd like - i won't be - i have a beef w/ ABC, but go for it if ya just gotta see ASH on Hollywood Squares!

Re: ASH on Hollywood Squares [Highlander II: not sure exactly what's up w/ the 'original airdate' thing...] Networks have begun to avoid advertising re-runs. Most TV listings have dropped the (R) designation for repeats. Yahoo listings include the date when the episode first aired so you will know if it's new or not. Cool, I'm not home during the day, but maybe I can catch it another time, since they tend to replay those game shows forever.

yeah - guess they're afraid ppl won't watch if it's a rerun - well - dunno about anyone else, but for the most part, i don't care if it's a first run, or a rerun, i'll watch anyway -- if ppl didn't wanna watch reruns, what would be the point of syndicated programming? why would networks play a bidding war to acquire rights to shows such as L&O, BTVS, MacGyver, and JAG?? network execs can be so dense sometimes ---

well - guess that would depend on your interpretation of being the guest on a game show ---- i don't think he gets a prize for being on the show -- those are for the contestants --- | |

actually - there are 9 celebrity types and they sit in a giant tic-tac-toe board - 9 squares - and there are little neon light things that light up as either X or O -- so, essentially - yeah -- the show was much cooler way back when Shadoe Stevens was on there -- now, I think he's just the announcer -- not sure - haven't seen the show in ages -

The show is setup as HL2 said. As the players take turns, the announcer reads a "fact" from a set of cards and then the stars have to tell him if the "fact" is true or false. The players then have to say rather they agree or disagree with the star's answer. If they guess right they put thier symbol (X or O) in that square. The hook is that the stars have funny lines and jokes written for the questions in advance and, of course, the atmoshere is one of a bunch of friends goofing around. For instance: Announcer: 4 out of 5 husbands say that their wife has a sister prettier than her. Star: And that's how battered-husband syndrome got started. It was a popular show back in the sixties or so. Whoopi Goldberg is one of the exec. prod. who revived the show and she sat in the "center square" for a few years as a draw to get the show off the ground, since most people go for the center first. And now you know more than you ever wanted to know about Hollywood Squares. And welcome back, Yoda.
