Now, now RogueFaith, don't take HighlanderII wrong.

H2 is a big fan of things making sense, even in fantasy. She likes for the episodes to mesh without apparent error, characters to have realistic motivations for their actions and for all the characters to have a share in developing the stories.

Occasionally, we try to remind her that it's just a show, but she seems to think that that is no excuse for being sloppy.

Most of us are pretty casual here and treat each other with familiarity. Don't let an off-hand comment make you think that some one is being short or rude. In fact, ASciFi.com is one of the few discussion forums that enforce rules of civility and politeness.

Back on topic:

Perhaps the fact that Dawn and Glory were "wild cards" in our reality - they weren't a natural part of our world - Buffy was somehow unable to foresee anything about them.

Ok sorry dude I'll try to be less reactive..I wish TV shows made a lil more sense sometimes too...it gets a little frustrating when things dont always mesh and you wonder what would happen if they did

Damn I'm too late to get involved in that little confrontation there.

I think that as Buffy has progressed as a slayer she no longer needs help from the PTB.

It is just a show, and NO that's not an excuse for being sloppy - (yes, this is slighty OT, but still in the realm of my question in a round about way) - i've read/heard/etc in a number of places on a number of shows where the film crew and directors, etc. do things as 'shortcuts' thinking that 'the fans won't notice' - but guess what - they always do! the fans have time to pick over little things like that and they do, and they notice that Xander's hair wasn't quite the same in this shot that's supposed to be 2 seconds after the previous shot, or that there were two bites out of that sandwich in the last frame, and now there is only one - viewers see that stuff, and the PTB at the shows don't think they will - they're wrong -- and yeah, that's just little stuff - these little bits don't bother me as much as big honkin' continuity errors that occur b/c ppl writing in later seasons either haven't seen the show before, so they don't know what's going on, or they've forgotten -- (see MacGyver and Highlander -> Highlander Endgame - the HL stuff is here, the MacGyver stuff, you'll have to go to yahoogroups to find) --

now - Joss Whedon hasn't really had this bit 'continuity' problem - mostly b/c the writing team has been pretty solid and most of the ppl there now were there at the beginning, or many of them were - so they all know what's been going on -- not only that, but I think Joss treats the show like his baby and doesn't let anything happen w/o his knowledge -- i like that -

now- back to the "Prophecy Girl" bit - i'm fine with Buffy not having dream and premonitions, but i'd like an explanation for it - if they're gonna just suddenly stop, wouldn't Buffy be worried about them? tho she hasn't even mentioned them since season 3 (maybe 4 if you count the season finale) --

dreams are important -- one should never have so much to worry about that they have no time for dreams -

and i'm not talking about 'accomplishments' per se (tho those are important too) - i'm talking about just having dreams - those random ones that most of us have --

a la - Buffy and Angel on the beach - that type of thing --

i mean - does Buffy still dream about Angel? does she think about Riley at all? does she dream about Spike? Xander? Willow? Tara? Dawn? her mother?

and they don't have to be prophecy dreams - just dreams --

yeah - me too --

kinda why i started the thread - i wanted to know where they went -- hey, Joss - did you forget?? what's up??

oh well - one more thing that fell through the loophole of a lack of continuity --

I know - she was in Restless, and I think that's the last time we see her - poor cat.

I was working on a fic and Spike asked Tara a question about a dog and I remembered the cat - (the logic really works if you read the story, which you can do when I'm done with it) - anyway - put Miss Kitty Fantastico (sort of) into my story -

Just goes to show - some people just shouldn't have pets -- or, some ppl shouldn't be allowed to write pets into the show -
