Well, i figured since so many of us have so many muses - that we should have a thread to yak about them --- as you all know - i have a TON of muses - (i won't list 'em all now, b/c if i forget one... well, you know) -- my first muse, well - don't really know, but the 1st serious 'ficcing' i did was for Highlander - so, probably Methos was my first serious muse. it has snowballed since then..... so - who else? what muses do you have?? and how do they act? are they talkative? shy? do they hide often? hit you at the most inoportune times? ![]()

Oh, good timing with this thread. My Methos muse was very good to me today. I am still working on that series of vingettes that I posted a couple of weeks ago. I got done with the Methos part that I have been working on. Now hopefully my Amanda muse will be as cooperative.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I love Highlander and the character of Amanda, but so far that's the part I've been having the most trouble writing. Other than Highlander, I've also started a couple of fics for The Sentinel and I've also had an idea for an Invisible Man fic that I haven't started writing yet.

Well, I may eventually write my IMan fic, but for the time being, it's just an idea. I've got some Highlander stuff that I'm working right now. Maybe when I'm done with that. Okay, you like The Invisible Man. Does that mean you won't mind if I complain about the stupid, stupid, STUPID Scifi Channel? I still can't believe that they canceled IMan. I admit that I don't really know much about running a tv station, but it just seems to me that it's a really dumb idea to cancel your second highest rated show. AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!! I HATE THE SCIFI CHANNEL!!!!!!!!! Sorry, I'm done with my off topic ranting now.

I figure I have 12 muses total...although, thankfully, not all the time. And yes, nearly all of them hit when I absolutely can't sit down and jot down anything they tell me....yet most become eerily silent when I'm sat at the puter. I have one muse, my Richard Sharpe muse, who is in hiding...I'm trying to coax him out...he's a good muse, but had a bad experience with another writer a while back. | |

I'm pretty sure my earliest muses were all MarySues (I've written "volumes" no one will ever see), and I think she still lurks a lot, but I'm not sure I have a muse per se. I see scenes in my head, and hear the characters dialog like it is a script. Sometimes after the basic story is down, I go back and do the set decorations, the costuming etc., add direction (say it THIS way!). If I can "edit" all the scenes together, great; if not, it goes in the VNOWES file and I might work on it again on some later date, or steal a scene for a different story. The times the muses DO assist me, is when I'm writing a scene and I have absolutely NO idea where it is going or why. Those are the best, but they seem few and far in between. In that case, I'd have to name Connor, Duncan, Ramirez and Fitz as muses that have been good to me. lynnann

Ahhh yes Muses....what can I say about my...*sees mob of angry muses standing over her shoulder* my little angels! Well I have 7 muses. Methos is my first, Jamie was next(he's from a disney show In A Heartbeat), Dr. Helm(from Queen of swords) came after Jamie, then came Spike, then in a sudden shock of muses came Drusilla, Angelus, and Darla. And hopefuly I won't get anymore for a while.

I have some muses I'd rather not have. Mostly, my muses turn out to *not* be the characters I actually *want* to write about. I mean, for Farscape, for example, I have a hyperative Rygel muse and a Chiana muse, when I'd much rather have a John muse! I also have a DK muse. For HL, it's only Methos, thank the Gods, LOL! For DS9, it's an unlikely guy called Al Lorenzo who's mentioned in passing in one season seven ep., oh, and Captain Sisko. And recently I was visited by an orc version of Philip Marlowe; now, *that* was scary! He wanted me to write a 'Mordor noir' I refused him, good little MacSlow that I am - I felt I had to concentrate on my WiPs.
