Reg2 Season5 DVDs coming out soon

As you will probably all know already (that need to know), the release dates for Season 5, region 2 DVDs appear to be as follows:

eps 1-4 - 22nd April
eps 5-8 - 20th May

I am therefore predicting  the following, in line with season 4:

eps 9-12 - 17th June doh! just out: 24th June!
eps 13-16 - 22nd July
eps 17-20 - 19th August
eps 21-22 - 23rd September

MGM have released season 2. You mean region 1 season 2? Sorry!

a) petition them (with several thousand others) to do so and hope they get their act together
b) buy region 2 DVDs and get an all-region or region-free DVD player

[ c) we are the same for season 1 - I have just done the inverse of a) ]

One more question.
How can you tell whether your DVD player is region free or not?

Would normally say in the manual.
Unless it has been "chipped" in which case you would know because you had had it done.

Or, it may be changeable by handset, in which case you would have to check the internet...

Thanks again.
Hasn't been "chipped" just can not locate any info in manual, and company website was a no go also.
As I said before thanks, I guess I'm off to compose a petition.

The company website may be the last place to look

BUT, am not sure which websites would list handset codes. They are often "test" functions and so totally undocumented!

Well, The Embassy had a delivery yesterday, containing the whole of Season 1 (region 1!) from Amazon.Com, but it came from Germany, not the USA. So no customs tax! BUT, and I haven't had a chance to tear away from my Ambassadorial duties long enough to check, the titles of some of the extra features look like they are duplicated in later series on Region2 volumes. e.g. profile on Sam, profile on Hammond, profile on costumes.

However, it IS a nice, crisp box set of five volumes, meaning the Embassy now has all episodes up to and including the end of series 4! Hurrah!
