| 2.48 : The Immunity Syndrome. The one where a giant amoeba attacks Enterprise. Even as a child I found this concept hard to believe. They decide, ultimately, to destroy it with an antimatter charge, which everyone seems to think is a brilliant and novel idea, except they already used it in 'Obsession' and 'The Doomsday Machine' already. When the Vulcan ship, the USS Intrepid, is destroyed, Spock feels the many lives onboard extinguished and he suffers visibly from the psychic bolt. Whenever I watch 'Star Wars: Episode I', and Obi Wan Kenobi feels "a great disturbance in the force", I am reminded of this episode. |
