| Back from Sardinia/bed... ...and from a Farscape weekend! So... Sardinia is a beautiful place, but unfortunately I didn't get to see much of it. I crawled into neolithic graves and climbed bronze age towers with my profs and fellow students for about four days, and then I got ill. This was supposed to be a study trip, but as it turned out, the only thing I got to study extensively was beds in various Sardinian hotels... luckily, we were staying in very good hotels. *g* I missed most of the latter half of the trip, and only got better in the last two days of it. Then, after I got home last weekend, the illness came back and I spent yet another week in bed... Well, at least I *finally* got better just in time for the third semi-annual Farscape weekend of the German Farscape mailing list I'm on. Miraculously, I now feel perfectly fine, although I haven't had more then eight hours of sleep all weekend... so maybe what struck me down in Sardinia was Farscape withdrawal... and all I needed to cure me was a healthy dose of Farscape... 19 eps, to be precise - we broke all our previous records. The group is growing, btw, we were about 25 people this time - compare that to our humble beginnings with 14 participants... the mailing list is close to 200 members now, I think, but only the hardcore Scapers come to these meetings. Since we were so many this time but wanted to keep the cost low, we only had 'real' beds for about half of us, and the others - mostly the 'veterans' of former meetings, like myself - had to sleep on inflatable matresses, which gave the room we were using as 'cinema' an interesting atmosphere... especially since we were staying in a four star hotel (which is owned by the family of one of our members). All the other guests, the regular guests, that ist - people in suits and ties and evening gowns! - looked at us as if they couldn't quite believe we were real... especially yesterday morning, when we trooped into the bathroom of the hotel restaurant to wash and dress, LOL! (I'm not sure Mark will ever let us stay at his hotel again... *blush*) Apart from that nice weekend, a lot of unpleasantness is going on in my life right now - my landlord sort of threw me out, don't ask for details, it's depressing me to talk about this. ;-( Seems my losing my webspace and website a few weeks ago was sort of prophetic... now I'm homeless (almost) in both spheres... |
