Guidelines? asks a possible newcomer

Although I generally limit my inarticulate ramblings to the AusGate and Technical forums, I was looking around and considered the possibility of lowering the overall quality of THIS forum by posting some sort of Fic.

Now, having been around the block on this and other BBSs, I would imagine there are plenty of assumed or accepted practices, and, conversely, faux pas to be avoided.

Since there was no obvious "Sticky" FAQ, could one of the helpful people here suggest any items of format, length, plot direction that should be considered, empoyed or utilised (avoided) at all costs, to make my/your first experience of me in FanFic not too distressing?

Well, first off 'Hi'. Here at this little corner of the stargate universe we welcome all newcomers. We are addicted to fic and the majority, if not all, of the people here genuinly enjoy helping out new and old writers alike. Many of us have been or still are in stargate ep withdrawal and crave new fic like air.

There aren't too many rules (least not that I'm aware of
) This is a family oriented site so you do have to keep the stories to an appropraite rating (i.e. language, violence, sex...etc.) And spoiler warning are a must.

Um, can't really think of anything else at the mo, but if there's more I'm sure someone else will be kind enough to post, too. Also if you have any questions feel free to pm me or most anyone else.

I look forward to reading a story of yours.

what sandman said. any stargate fic is welcome here. since it is a family forum, nothing past pg-13 though. which basically means if they won't do it on the show...probably not a good idea here <G>

ship is welcome, but nothing too explicit and i honestly don't know padders' policy towards slash(same sex fic)...

as to length...well i've posted some long fic but if you have something that's 20 or 30 odd pages i would suggest posting a link or posting it in separate parts.
some folks like to print stuff out and read it off line...and it can be hard to do that here.

Cheers, that all seems to cover what I was looking for, especially that header block.

Now I just have to drag myself away from Ausgate and actually write down some of the ideas that at present are skittling feverishly around my elbow.
