Re: Metal There's a post like this a bit down the page, actually. I listen primarily to metal and its sub-genrès, though I avoid nu-metal as I find it dull and repetitive lacking any real depth. As for my favourites, there are numerous. Dredg is a clear favourite right now - see some samples of them here. As for an all-time favourite, I'd have to say Opeth, a Swedish melodic black metal band.

Re: Metal I know that there is one similar thread just below, but I'll produce myself here. I like Apocalyptica, which was once described as - attention - heavy dead black trash metal. Hmm... I can't agree with that, but probably I just don't know everythig about music. I also like Nightwish.

Re: Metal I listen to lots of metal, no harm in yapping about it again. I started out in high school with the usual Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Balck Sabbath fare, jumped into thrash with Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer and then a bit of death - Obituary is still a fast favourite. I like a selected few melodic bands - Therion justs blows me away, Amorphis is often very good and Dark Tranquility is the best of Gothenburg, IMHO. My current favourite metal band is Nevermore. I tend to find power metal and black metal tiresome and was never much into nu-metal although I trip on some if its antecedents like Rage Against The Machine and Faith No More. Other faves include Celtic Frost, Soilwork, Sigh (a very cool Japanese band mixing various textures into a BM framework), Carcass, Arch Enemy, Accept, Exodus and Testament.

Re: Metal The metal bands that I am liking right now are Rhapsody, Iced Earth, and Iron Maiden basically. I don't mind some thrash Metallica, though my friends are obsessed with them. They think of them as gods. I wish they would see that everything after and including the Black Album wasn't that great.

Re: Metal I like these lyrics by Rhapsody, heh. I swear if I ever made a fantasy movie I would get Rhapsody to do the soundtrack. Face me evil bastard, smell the hate of angels Glory, pride and bloodshed Cowards and beholders, rapers of my wisdom mix of dust and bones Go back to your abyss, Algalord will not fall but your heads will soon roll Test the blade of heroes, fury of the thunder hit my golden shield So we'll fight against the wind for the glory of the kings to defeat the evil enemies And we'll ride with our lord for the power and the throne in the name of holy thunderforce Arwald and Aresius with the nordic warrior on their way to Hargor Chaos and oblivion, turmoil and disorder will have now their name The last fallen heroes will defeat your forces Thousand spirits calling On the furthest mountain I will see your fire quenched by holy frost! So we'll fight against the wind for the glory of the kings to defeat the evil enemies And we'll ride with our lord for the power and the throne in the name of holy thunderforce
