Re: Metal

I love metal. Korn, Alice in Chains, Slipknot, Black Sabbath, Slayer, I'll listen to it all. I'm constantly on the search for other awesome bands. I don't have a specific genre of metal, its all metal, its all good.

Re: Metal

I love metal music.
That is I love 'real' metal, I dont like the modern so called 'nu-metal' IMO it is not metal at all and shouldnt be classed as such.
My favorite types of metal are Classic, Death, Industrial and Thrash.

My fave bands are Pantera, Machine Head, Alice In Chains, Ministry, Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, White Zombie, Black Sabbath...

Re: Metal

Love tons of different metal/punk and some Britrock and similar stuff. Slightly knackered my hearing after a few gigs too many (got caught in something of a sound trap at a Megadeth gig in 99' and had major tinnatus for weeks).

Love bands such as White Zombie - Helmet - The Deftones - Machine Head - Megadeth - Godflesh - Sepultura - Pantera - Fear Factory - Alice in Chains - Soundgarden - Suffocation - Nine Inch Nails - Slayer - Kyuss - Napalm Death - PoisontheWell - SkyCameFalling - Vision of Disorder and The Misfits...

Re: Metal

Disnatured I have not heard of many of the bands you listed, and here is me thinking myself as something of a metal guru... lol, joking.

I did miss out a few names:

Rammstein
Bathory
Fear factry (not when they turned nu metal)
Slayer
Skinny Puppy
Every now and then I put Cradle of Filth on at a metal club, so cheesy, It is so funny to watch 'mini goths' dance to it and take every one of danny filths words seriously! LOL

Re: Metal

I've only gotten into metal in the last few months but here are a few of my favorites so far:

-Pig Destroyer - I only have Terrifyer, but oh boy it's harsh.
-Meshuggah - the I EP is teh Metal Roxxor!!11, Nothing is great too.
-The Dillinger Escape Plan - Irony Is A Dead Scene is damn infectious, I also have Miss Machine but have only given it a couple of spins so far.
-Mastodon - Leviathan, a loose concept album about Moby Dick my GOD that's so metal it hurts!
-In Flames - the Black-Ash Inheritance EP is eye opening and mind blowing.
-Between The Buried And Me - Alaska, this album is so varied, it's a mongrel in the "tear your face of and sew it back on" kind
-Botch - We Are The Romans, guh/woah.
-Chimaira - S/T is a nice bit of Metalcore, if Metalcore can even be described as nice.
-Pelican - Australasia, brings teh hypnosis.

So that's what i'm into at the moment, just for starters.

Re: Metal

Between the Buried and Me!

Got into them last year. Really cool stuff. Only listened to bits of Pig Destroyer (reminded me of Leng t'che... not at all a bad thing either) but I've seen Dillinger Escape Plan and Meshuggah live before. Both are immense.

Nice picks!

Interesting! I've never seen Industrial referred to as a form of Metal. So you'd say bands like Skinny Puppy, Download and Suicide Commando are heavy metal? I've always thought industrial (or post industrial, or whatever) was a bit different from metal. The complete lack of guitars in many industrial songs, for example - doesn't seem like metal. I know Fear Factory confused things a bit, but most bands don't cross the two, and even when FF did, they lost piles of metal fans. (At least, they lost plenty of metal fans I knew.)

Anyways, I quite like metal in many forms, though not as many as when I was younger. Opeth are a great band, I'm a big fan of the Deftones (if you think they're metal), and classic Iron Maiden is great fun!

*edited to say I can't believe I forgot Anthrax, one of my favorite bands of all time - their "bring the noise" with Public Enemy got me into metal *
