Anyone seen any of this? What's it about? Is it just another "Odyssey in Space" or is there a real and coherent and gripping plot behind it? Is it a poor man's Trek, or a cheap Farscape rip? Somebody tell me about Andromeda!!

We don't get any Science Fiction seires up North, but according to IMDb's entry it's rather good.

::SPOILER ALERT:: (At least for those who ain't seen the series)

Andromeda is a series about a ship - the Andromeda Ascendant - a ship of the High Guard fleet, GLORIOUS HERITAGE Class Heavy Cruiser...

The Commonwealth was like the Federation (from Trek)... Many planets, many species... The High Guard are the armed forces of the Commonwealth

However, the Nietzscheans (a race of super-humans) betray the Commonwealth from within and destroy it...

The Andromeda Ascendant (due to some luck) and her Commanding Officer Captain Dylan Hunt, without the rest of the ships crew, gets caught in the event horizon of a Black Hole...

300 years later the ship is pulled from the Black Hole by the Eureaka Maru...

Capt Hunt finds out that the Commonwealth has been 300 years gone, but wants to start rebuilding it!!!

Stars Kevin Sorbo (Hercules)...

I like the series, but is a bit wooden in places... Some good cameos from well known Sci-Fi stars (Christopher Judge, Michael Shanks, etc)...

Harper, the Chief Engineer, is a hoot and a half - mental and a pervert!!!
