he is pegged as daniel's replacement...and i believe is now going to be in all 22 eps. do i like him? well from the 'rooting for the underdog' pov..yeah. in some places the guys is getting totally creamed. some folks hate him sight unseen since he's replacing danny. from my personal pov..i gotta see this dude in action before i totally make up my mind. to ask a question over in the sam forum...anyone think if anyone gives him grief and makes his life hard, it's gonna be sam?

I didn't like him, but I'm probably just biased cos he's Danny's replacement. I think it was a bad idea to introduce him in the same episode as they got rid of Daniel in. I'll admit it's too early to make any kind of serious judgement about this character, but my early impression of him was that he was one of those 'pretty boy' types, somehow I don't think he'd fit in on SG-1. So do you guys think that they'll put him on SG-1 or will his character have some kind of different role? I can't really see why he would be assigned to SG1, he doesn't seem to have the experience required for such a job, and it would make sence that they would promote someone from a lower SG team to take Daniel's place in the flagship unit.

It's just a suggestion, but perhaps when viewing episodes with Jonas in them, it might be easier for you if you thought of him as a 'new character' rather than 'Daniel's replacement'. I mean, I don't know, I'm just guessing, I'm not inside your head and I don't know how intensely you feel about the demise of Daniel, but let's face it Daniel was a 'pretty boy' too and I know that he was there from the outset of the show and many have grown to love and respect the character, but perhaps we need to give Jonas the benefit of the doubt. He may fit in like a charm, we won't really know until we have seen an episode where he's reacting to the rest of the team and seen what, if any, rapport he manages to achieve. Just a thought or two.

I dunno really..as not too much was said about the guy in that episode. They did seem to say that he was smart had a little bit of background with archaeology and he seemed to be wanted to explore what was the other side of the gate. Like I have said in other threads...its gunna be hard for us and the new character as we only have one season to get to know him and what he is all about and I don't think that its really enough time...but thats all we have got. Where as with Danny and the others we had a whole five seasons (minus one )I think its going to be different without having Daniel around...I will keep thinking that he is going to pop up every now and again and I also think I would feel the same if it was any other character that is in Stargate SG1...so for me its not just about Daniel. Im willing to give Jonus a chance to see what he is going to turn out like. Im hoping that they don't make him into another Danny as that would be a little silly IMHO... Anyway these are just my views..... ![]()

I haven't seen enough of him to make a decision. What I would hope is that he isn't just a replacement Danny. It is clear, that for many people, they can never replace Daniel anyway, so that would be a further insult to those fans to have a Danny clone. But in my opinion, it would also be better for the series to have a new different character. Still someone who comes from a totally different perspective to Jack's, sure! But just like the X-Files brought in Doggett to replace Mulder, a new character, with different motives, who can develop, and we can slowly learn more about. I can't make a judgement on that until I have seen more, so I'm one of those sitting on the fence, sorry!

I think that if T.P.T.B. really are planning to impose Joshua Quinn on to the remains of S.G. 1, they should seriously take a reality check at this point... They're talking about 'replacing' a tried and true friend - a man of great humanity, knowledge, integrity and quiet courage - with a lying, chicken-hearted alien thief who knows B—-all about our culture, identity and mores. Now, who would you want watching your back?! Best wishes, Hatshepsut  --

As I said before..... perhaps it might be better to think of him as a entirely new character and not Daniel's replacement. If the producers have any sense they won't just fling him into a mission with SG1 without him having to be vetted somewhat first. If he is, then it will probably be a case of whatever knowledge he does hold will be vital to the success of the mission. I don't know I am just guessing here. I have no strong feelings about it at all. However, at the risk of someone decapitating me for mentioning that I was military, military teams are not generally made up out of close personal friends. They are selected for their individual abilities in the field. Yes they form a coherent team, but not to the extent that SG1 have been portrayed. SAS teams are put together from a pool of soldiers. Many of them will have served together on missions but they may not be a regular team. ALL soldiers are socialised to work as a team, it's the one thing which is drummed into you from the outset of recruit training. ALL soldiers are taught to watch each others backs whether they know each other or not. I went on a brick (four man patrol) once through the streets of Belfast, I didn't know any of these guys from Adam, but because of theirs and my training, I trusted them to watch my back. Even in a regular platoon, yes you make friendships, very often close friendships, but sometimes people get killed and then the platoon member is replaced with another and life moves on. Whoever is the replacement you have to hope that they will watch your back the way you would watch theirs. There is nothing emotional or personal about the military machine Hatshepsut. You may feel emotional about an individual in the team but at the end of the day, when your commanding officers say 'jump' you say 'how high?'. SG1 will be expected by their CO to do just that with whoever might replace Daniel. Jack would be consulted as the leader of the team, but ultimately it would be General Hammond's call and he would have to be practical. As the General Officer Commanding a base like SGC he cannot be seen to be dictated to by his emotions or by the emotions of his staff. I do realise that the show is not real life, but if they want to have the sanction of the USAF then they would have to at least pay lip service to reality in the military. Of course, in REAL real life, Jonas Quinn and Teal'c would not be allowed to wander around doing ANYTHING classified, nor would Cassandra have been allowed to be adopted by Dr Frasier. These people come from other planets for god's sake, do you really think that the paranoid US government would let them do what they want here? I really don't think so. They would be held in some secure facility and interrogated extensively, as Adrian the Goa'uld was. ![]()
