Re: Five Doctors

Remember seeing it when it first aired over here -- it was actually the first Davison story I saw -- and quite liked it. The replacement for William Hartnell was Richard Hurndull, who was the closest they could find and who had been a friend and colleague of Hartnell as well, as I recall. He didn't do too badly on capturing the tetchiness of Hartnell's characterization, nor the quirky humor the original Doctor had.

My only complaint is that, when they recently re-released it on DVD special edition, they altered a few small things, including some more sophisticated special effects -- which is nice, but I rather miss the original; it had a different feel, overall. I'd like to see a disc with both available, rather than pay the price for each (they aren't cheap over here, by any means).

I came into Doctor Who fairly late (was about 20 at the time), but I've been a great fan since -- not so much fannish activity, as just someone who loves the series and is interested in some of the odd trivia and backstory. Wish I could see the newer Doctors (the most recent I've been able to catch was Sylvester McCoy, and only one of those so far) -- but, perhaps, in Time (if you'll pardon the pun)....
