Virus

Hey, those of you here in my address book already will know about this and hopefull other people have passed it on as well, but there's a virus. It comes in an attatchement in an email from someone called hahaha who's mail address is 'hahaha@sexyfun.net' I dont know what the virus does because i scanned the attatchment first and found there was a virus so didnt download it. The subject of the email is 'Snowhite and the seven dwarfs - what really happened'.

Cheers,
Sinistra

I've seen that too, but it was from a hotmail account. Lucky for me I scanned it before I opened it too.

I've got Norton 2002 but Sin already told me to watch out for it.

Thanx for the warning, but...

How do you scan an email or attachment?

if you have MSN/hotmail it automatically scans any atatchment. Alternatively, you can scan files using whatever software you have.... I think you can right click but I'm not that sure. Best asking a tech

No one has sent me this. Does that mean I don't get enough emails? :disgust: Annette has told me about it though. I think that there is more damage caused by the fear about these things than the virus themselves, see my post about the sulfnix.exe hoax. As Neo says, a good virus checker will find them, don't open attatchments from people you don't trust, and be weary of anything circulated to more than half a dozen people. And don't worry about them.

It is more than that. You should NOT open attachments you are not expecting. Most viruses use the adress book to send the virus so you might well know the person. If you get an attachment such as Happy Easter from someone on your address book you should NOT open it without checking they sent it.

Cool

Thanks for letting me know about the virus. We've got the Norton AntiVirus set up on our PC which has warned me a couple of times about dodgy emails but I do try and be careful as much as I can.
