Ok, I apologise to all the real life Elves I may have insulted :blah: .

Pansy: A term for a man or boy who is considered effeminate.
I still don't see how that isn't accurate for Elves.

An Elven drabble.

Lothlórein’s landscape architects, fairest of all the peoples,
Renowned for their love of nature, and of growing things,
And terra firma under the sky, and objects of beauty to behold,
Clever humour, songs and poetry, but never money nor gain,
Only their fascination and desire for magic is their weakness.

Are you talking only about the body structure and features, because the elves tall, slim, non-muscular bodies are more female, and muscular bearded dwarves are more male.

But, is it a female characteristic to enjoy natural things, growing things, beautiful objects, songs and poetry?

And a male characteristic to enjoy hard work, digging, and excavating?

Maybe it is. . . or maybe that says more about the personality of the person who thinks it?

I'm not 'effeminate', yet I enjoy natural things, growing things, beautiful objects, songs and poetry.

I have agree with Shaun that I don't think Elves are "all that great", and he needs my support in this thread, you are all against him. Why do you all love Elves so much?

As for the elves running away: they think on a longer timescale than men, and have a different agenda. I don't think they are leaving because it's too tough at the moment, rather that they have brother elves across the Sea that they want to rejoin.

Dave - I love the Elves for the reasons you have just said! To enjoy natural things, growing things, beautiful objects, songs and poetry...especially the nature part. They very beautiful poeples aswell and y'all knows I love anything asthetically (sp?) pleasing...And just because Legolas (In the film) is hot, thats not the only reason I like elves. I prefer bows to swords because the bows...work in a group if you get my meaning.

Back to the nature - have you ever just sat and listened to the world? Some of the most beautiful music is made by gargling streams and birds and the wind throught the trees...I dont think Dwarves are into that kinda stuff! they like lumpy metal and rock...but me does not but i do like the sparkliness of it all, but then again dont you just love dew glittering on a misty autumn morning? oh dear I'm so soppy... So nows you understand!

Thanks for some support Dave. I was mainly talking about their physical features but I still think that singing merrily, skipping and picking flowers are feminine qualities (hmm reminds me of a short, gay, singing man who wasn't in the movie). Not that theres anything wrong with being effeminate.

I think it's because the Elves are sooo perfect, and people want to be just like them. Just a guess.

No, not really. I'm usually too distracted by my own thoughts.

Yes. It reminds me of light glittering off of a polished gem. Rocks and precious metals can be beautiful as can other stuff in nature. I quite like waterfalls with the water flowing over the beautiful rocks. And the crater covered moon always held a special place in my heart.

Shaun and Dave - I have wonderful nature books stuffed with beautiful pictures of woodland ond forest scenes that i just stare at for hours...Waterfalls in forests surrounded my mist...oh dear am I get too soppy? And I really want to go werever it is just to see it for real. Snowdonia in Wales - thats where i wnt to go next, or Cornwall thats a pretty...pretty place!

So you're surprised that i like the nature side of elves? I'm not surprised I seem to be obsessed with a certain blonde one!
