Re: A Game Of Thrones: The Movie

I'm going to say Djimon Hounsou for Jalabhar Xho.

Jalabhar is a peacock. He does nothing. Better to use Hounsou as the captain or the first mate on the Cinnamon Wind... Quhuru Mo and Xhondo respectively.

Good thinking Boaz, He would work well for either of those two as well. (Honestly had forgotten about them, good thing I am doing a reread!)

Re: A Game Of Thrones: The Movie

LoW, mayhaps Jalabhar will become a prime character towards the end. I commented to a friend today that I could not believe that Terrence Howard took the role of Tony Stark's sidekick/protege in Iron Man. Howard is on Hollywood's hotlist. I told my friend that Howard should have waited for a superhero of his own for the probable Avengers movie. My friend told me that in the Iron Man comics that Howard's character later dons the armor and becomes the superhero War Machine. I quit reading comics in 1981 so I never knew about War Machine... mayhaps Jalabhar will rise up to become a major character as well.

Straying from AGOT the movie and the HBO series ASOIAF, what do you think of Djimon Hounsou as T'Challa aka The Black Panther?

Re: A Game Of Thrones: The Movie

I actually had the same thought about Jalabhar, that perhaps he may play a bigger role later. Though what that role could be is anyone's guess. (insert next crazy theory here)

After seeing Iron Man, my husband told me the same thing, that his character later becomes the suit wearer in some capacity. (He also did not read comic books forever so wasn't completely sure about that). Although I rather liked Terrence in that role.

Unfortunately I am not well spoken with comic books characters. I have never actually read one (that I can remember anyways), so I'm embarrassed to say I had never heard of The Black Panther. But after a Google search and a little Wikipedia info, I would say Hounsou could play that character. Although I almost hope they don't do it, I am getting a little tired of all the comic book movies that have come out lately. I am looking forward to the next Batman, but that's about it. Although I did enjoy Iron Man, much more than I thought I would.

Definately a big no to Brendan Gleeson as Pycelle. That man should not play a snivelling weasel!

I originally had him for King Robert, but I think he's a tad bit too old.

Re: A Game Of Thrones: The Movie

Welcome, dudebro. Dude, Gleeson is too old for Robert and way too large to play Pycelle. Bro, I'd like to see Gleeson play an obsequious character... it'd be a good stretch for him.

Sawyer as Jaime wouldn't work for me, as I'm too entrenched in LOST to think of him as anyone else.

Dinklage is the far and away the pick for Tyrion.

I do like the idea of Dwayne playing Drogo tho'.

Re: A Game Of Thrones: The Movie

Thinking more about it I've decided upon English accents in my mind, I don't know if Josh Holloway (Sawyer aka James Ford aka James LaFleur) could pull this off. I'd keep wait for him to call Brienne "freckles", to designate Catelyn "Nurse Ratched", to baptize Lysa as "the wicked witch of the east", to name Roose Bolton "Hannibal Lecter", to christen Robert as "Shawn Kemp", to mock Arryk and Erryk as "Hans und Frans", to label Cleos "chicken little", to blast Baelish as "Stephanopoulos", to describe Stannis as "Nixon", or to rename Cersei "mommie dearest".

I think he'd pull it off just fine. His ability to act so arrogant on LOST is exactly why I pegged him for Jaime. I had just got through the scen in "A Clash of Kings" where Catelyn Stark confronted him in the jail cells beneath Riverrun, and I could just see Josh Holloway sitting there talking **** while in chains.

I can see that as well, dudebro! But I'm not sure I can see him as Captain of the Kingsguard.
