I found him to be a bit too much like the other characters Eddings already created, as Silk or Talen.

Althalus is no Silk. Neither is he a Talen.
He is a loveable rogue though. My ex had a mad crush on him.

Althalus wasn't a bad character - it was great to see one of Eddings' thieves as a main character - but I didn't think the story suited him. I would've liked to see a better conclusion to the story, too.

Yes I liked Althalus a great deal, much as I liked this book I found it to NEAT. Everything was resolved to easily and some of it was a little to mushy!!!! Everyone found their true love and no one of any signifigance died or experienced great sadness. Still I did like it and I liked Althalus!
