Red face Highest Single Question Points?

ARGH!

Just had to get that off my chest in a quiet and dignified place, as befitting a professional diplomat.

I was just going through Foothold episode, and came across a 5-pointer question, with a x15 mulitiplier. Trouble is, it was the first time I have seen that question in 15+ visits, and of course got it wrong. 75 points....

So - question: has anyone seen a larger single point score?

2 times I had a shot at a 90 point multiplier. I missed the first one, but got the second. Had a couple 80/85 pointers before, but they were few and faw between.

I know a couple people have had chances on 100 pointers, but missed because of the shock of seeing 100 points up for grabs.

I suppose what would be much worse is just missing to hit that little radio button, so the question were left unanswered.... -100 points.

I know I sometimes (one location in 250?) miss a button due to excess speed...

Not sure I have ever seen any question higher than 6 points, and they are rare enough. Quite a few five pointers though.

[Must be straightforward for a dB search on the server to extract the totals for each point value though... ]

I've had a couple 7 pointers with a 20 multiplier when the new episodes first went up. I'd rather not get questions like that though, because I'd have to kick myself if I get it wrong.

Coming Soon

Soon, I will be implementing a feature where one random question per day will be zero'd out, and return to a 10 point question. I suppose If you are lucky enough to get that question before too many people answer it, and get a multiplyer with it, then you might be able to make some prety serious points from it.

But like I said, it will be random. Even I will never know which episode or location it is in.

Comment from the person who thought of it: although it would start at 10 points for the first person to get it, the question could actually jump VERY quickly to being a lower score than before.
Given how the points value is calculated, and how many people generally know the answers now...

Now obviously, I am not condoning cheating, BUT here is a hypothetical scenario: if anyone found a 10 pointer - told everyone else and they all (for perhaps a week) got it deliberately wrong, then it would stay much higher...

[Allan you are safe - no one will be doing the above: "ooh 10 points, *and* I know the answer... easy points"]

And a big thank you for the suggestion.... It was obviously a good one if I am going to use it

But you are correct, it won't stay at the 10 points for long... 1 correct answer, and it drops to 5 points right away (because it gets set by the % of correct answers)..... Unless I set the answer ratio to something like 100 wrong answers out of 100 attempts, which will mean it will stay between a 5 to 10 pointer for the first 100 people to get to that question.... (considering that they get it right).

Now obviously I don;t want to argue with the author of the software but if that first person gets it right, it will be 100% correct answer rate, so it will drop straight from 10 to 1.

But, if the NEXT person were to get it wrong it would jump back UP to 5 etc... Now MY head hurts :dead:

You're close... But not quite.....

To initialise a question, it must have at least 1 vote against it, or I get stupid divide by zero errors.. which suck :rolly2:

So the first answer cast on the site, is the first correct answer but in actual fact the second answer in total, so that makes 50%.

As for Highlanders question.... I don't get to play near as much as I would like. My measly few minutes of play every couple of days still keeps me in second position on Netu, but in the overall ranking, I am well into the 100's on the rank table.

One day maybe
