Jaffa

Maybe it's a stupid question but I'd like to know if Jaffa has a pouch in the abdomen since his birth?

In the ep. "Bloodlines" Teal'c's son Rya'c received his first Goa'uld symbiote in the age of 9-10 (or so). If a Goa'uld larva acts as the immune system for a Jaffa, how can a young Jaffa live without it?

Or do Jaffa priests create the pouch during a ritual of prim'ta?

In the ep. "Hathor" Hathor created a new Jaffa by using her special device. Does that mean that practically everyone can be changed?

Are Jaffas a special race or not?

Sorry for my bad English.

You're english is fine!

Well, dunno bout anyone else, but I figure that at (was it 13? 15? However old Rya'c was in Blooldines) all young children get a prim'ta, which is like a way of serving your god (or carrying one inside you!)

I think what HAthor had in the light thingy which she touched Jack with must have been similar to the priests.

I don't think Jaffa are a special race, cos the Goa'uld are always taking people from different planets, and I'm pretty sure that they don't only want them to be hosts for mature Goa'uld.

Hope that helps!:rolly2:

The writers/PTB don't seem all that sure about this. They often refer to Teal'c as a "alien" but except for the pouch he doesn't have anything else alien about him. Does Drey'auc have a primta? It's never been stated, but I don't think so. Having a primpta and being made a soldier of your 'god' seems to be reserved for a chosen few - fighters and priestesses. What do others think?

Dunno what an exact definitionof an alien is, but I think that Teal'c's physiology (and that of all Jaffa) is slightly altered by having a symbiote. Immune system is altered, and probly a lot else.
I thought that everyone had a prim'ta; wouldn't the Goa'uld engineer it that way? The moreof their kinda can be spawned and raised.
Gotta go, I'll add more later

tec'ma'te tau'ri 'n Jaffa,

i don't think that the Jaffa have a pouch from birth ...
i think they are born like tau'ri and in the age of 8-10 yrs they get their prim'ta ..
as we know a Jaffa can't survive longer than some hrs without a prim'ta so it is not possible that Jaffa children have a pouch from birth (8-10 yrs without prim'ta and without immune system) ..

to make the pouch they use the same device as Hathor and to remove the prim'ta in case of punishment they use the knife with the 3 blades ...

to make the "tatoo" on their forehead they use a "otak knive" (don't know if spell is correct) with which they cut the forms of a serpent into their heads -- after that the bloody wounds are filled out with gold (only first primes & Jaffa with special status) and so u get the tatoo ..

lek'tol, Geronimo
