i'd like to see buckets of blood, preferably the whole team's blood, but I doubt I'll get my wish! Either in this or any other episode. SG1 should go out as a team altogether in a blaze of guts and glory!!! Anubis should be the last person in the scene, holding up Jack's severed head! Which he shouldn't miss because he hardly uses it anyway! Instead of which we're going to get lots of wimpy angst, gushing tears and I may barf up my supper!

You know..... things are really bad when we start taking the 'mickey' like this! I wonder whether the writers/ producers of Stargate realise just how silly the whole thing appears to many of the fans. I still think they would have served the whole thing better had they just had him go away with another SG team on a long term archaeological dig on some other planet. I have no idea what possessed them to fly off into the realms of fantasy. I thought the Oma Desala storyline was a crock anyway.... especially when she disappeared in a swirly white light. Plus this thing that the writers have about some awesome power getting rid of the Goa'uld in a bright white light. The bloody Asgard did it....Oma thingummy did it and now the Sentinel also did it.... Oops.... should have put a spoiler in..... Sorry. Anyway, if there were truly so many much more powerful devices and wise creatures in the galaxy wtf were they doing allowing the Goa'uld to hold sway in the first place? Why didn't they just grab hold of our friendly parasites by the throat and say, if you don't behave we'll blast you out of existence? Because then there wouldn't be a storyline.... Daniel wouldn't ascend and become the Good Witch Glenda, Jack wouldn't get to do all those frantic eyebrow wiggling and lip twitching facial expressions which he calls acting and Sam wouldn't get to bawl her eyes out...... Oh frag the whole bloody thing.... I have been watching the new series of Buffy and Angel and trying to see what it is that Joss Whedon does right and Brad Wright and co are doing so wrong. Buffy never seems to degenerate into a bunch of cr*p, even when they deal with serious issues. Stargate has sped off at the speed of light into the world of Fantastica.... I go through most episodes with stoic numbness and end up with total speechlessness. I thought the storylines would progress and gather strength as the seasons wore on.... but instead they have sputtered around like farts trapped in a bottle.

Retreat Okay, I have no idea how people took my Oz joke, so it's gone. Meant no denigration at all in re: to anyone. Just trying to be less serious even though I didn't want to see DJ go either. But when it's time to move on, it's time to move on. No more joking. I promise. I give up. Too many things can be read into posts that you just didn't intend. - Orange

No Orange, you were right to make the jokes about Oz and Dorothy. They are very applicable to this series. Even RDA has a habit of referring to the Wiz. And it was funny. But very very close to the bone I think. Spoiler for Sentinel below: In Sentinel at the beginning when General Hammond was standing beside the gate techie very concerned that SG9 had not returned from a mission, Jack wandered up and behaved very very strangely, certainly for a fairly high ranking officer..... He tried to hand a mission report to the General, who was obviously not concerned with such minor things. Jack rambled on about better late than never, with a lot of facial twitching.... You know the sort of thing. The eyebrow wiggling, hand waving, lip twitching sort of dumb childish humour that he has been indulging in over the past few eppys. The kind of behaviour that a Colonel would NOT indulge in especially not to his CO not at that stage in his career. It wouldn't endear him to Hammond any and it didn't. It would have endeared him to any General. This is just one example of the kind of silliness that the show has degenerated into. Colonel O'Neill would be correct at all times in the presence of his CO and would very rarely argue in the presence of juniors or behave stupidly in the presence of others. A comparison to Oz might be taking it to the other extreme but is warranted in my view. ![]()

If he did as you say it makes you wonder if he isn't bored with the series.... Maybe the will get a civilian type and really explore the galaxy without MS and too much RDA....I can now see Sam, T-man and TNG (the new guy or gal) really doing the work (with RDA sitting back) and seeing different places and peoples.... without the gods of Oma Desala and Asgard bumping into them.

Okay Aphrodite....... please do listen, because I believe that many people get the wrong impression about me and my postings. I like....or rather did like the show a great deal. I still love the concept of gatetravel, an enemy like the Goa'uld and the idea of little earth struggling in the face of awesome odds. I believe or feel that the development of the show has drawn away from those original concepts and gone into line with what the fans actually want now. Which is lots of episodes with intense principal character development, eppys like Wormhole Xtreme which to my mind was a waste of the time and money they spent on it, the shippers want interaction between S & J, the Danielites are mourning the impending demise of Daniel, the Teal'c lovers are annoyed because he just gets to raise an eyebrow. Add to this the fact that the writers are ignoring continuity to the point where there are gaping holes in the plots and storylines and they keep killing off the bad guys with the ease of a turkey shoot and this is why my comments and reviews appear to be so negative. They aren't negative really. They are my views. And if you want me to come onto these lists and just post nicey nicey stuff because it makes everyone feel comfortable, then you will be waiting a long long time. I like to debate. Very often I will start a debate off by giving one of my reviews because I know that I will either get slammed, in which case 'you win some, you lose some' or I will get Dave, Sky, jsc, Shelby and others I can name coming back with some wonderful, insightful and fascinating comments which start an intelligent debate. I don't expect everyone to think like me. These are MY opinions and others state theirs. The word forum infers that this is a place where such debates take place, where no one has to be of the same opinion as anyone else. Yes... there are episodes I liked.... Children of the Gods, Hathor, The Tokra episodes, Summit, Menace, The Warrior, Fair Game, the Torment of Tantalus.... and many more. All of these gave a fascinating glimpse into a universe..... a glimpse that the Stargate people have chosen not to explore, instead they turn their attention towards SG1 being the constant heroes of the day and making the enemy as one dimensional and easy to defeat as they can. If I did not still love the concept I wouldn't be posting on these forums. I try to never flame anyone personally or attack them. I reserve my ascerbic comments for those aspects of the show that I don't like. And I will continue to give my opinions as long as I have breath in my body. I am 50 years old and have seen a great deal, including war and killing at firsthand. I am not likely to be a member of the 'wishy washy RDA is kewl' club any time soon. Does that help? ![]()
