1.03: The Witch

When Buffy joins the cheerleading squad, she discovers the competition for places is rather severe.

Cool

This is such a cool episode. Soooooo funny in parts too.

With only succeeding in becoming a 3rd alternate Amy is furious that she didn't get on the team. With help from witchcraft she is successful. Those poor team mates in front of her suffer some consequences. Buffy herself being one of them. With help from Giles evil is thwarted and Sunnydale brought back to 'normal'.

I loved it when Buffy was under the spell. So funny when she flips her team mate into the wall.

yeah it was a funny moment.. this wasn't a bad episode, their first non-vamp eppy of the show. Had its moments, but hardly a classic, who'd a thought Amy would linger around in one shape or another all the way thru to S5??

Cool

I can't believe Amy is still a rat. Wonder if this changes in S6. We shall have to wait and see.

Good continuity has always been a strong point of the show... wonder what happened to the picture when they

[markpud: Amys mum being trapped in the photo was acool...]

You got everything right Markpud, but one detail. Amy's mom was trapped as a figure on top of a cheerleading trophy.

Thats right, she was a figure wasn't she? Thanks Obcooke for the correction. Still a good episode though.

Once again poor Buffy is just trying to be a normal kid.

After watching that competition for cheerleader I am glad I never became one.

Xander and Willow trying to stop "Amy" when she headed out to kill Buffy was great!.

Buffy being so hyper and then just collapsing was very interesting.

Having first watched Amy in Season Six, and then going back to watch Season One on DVD, I liked how this episode set up Amy's connection to magic, thus foreshadowing her future role in the series. Like mother, like daughter ...

Also, the climactic battle was exciting, though I'm surprised that Amy wasn't sadder at having lost her mom. Granted, her mom didn't die, but she still disappeared for what turns out to be a very long time.

I don't blame Amy - her mum was horrible to her! I always saw Catherine as more like a fairytale wicked stepmother.
