Lily I love the fact that Lily (Anne now) has turned up in Angel. So it looks like Buffy kept her word, and stayed in touch. That's what we would expect of Our Hero, but it's nice to see the good oucome for such a minor character. And by the way, if Lily was embarrassed to be told that her previous name was shared with a mushroom, how sick must Verruca's parents have been?

It is good to see the outcome of a minor character...I'd like to see what Jonathan's life is like. If Verruca's parents are anything like her, Im sure they didn't care what other people thought.

nice to see that loose end tied up! Anyone else think this episode had the look and feel of an "Angel" episode, a full year before the Angel Series came out??

you know - "Anne" does look a bit like an Angel ep - wonder if Joss was playing with ideas and trying to set something up?? hmmmmmm --- i liked this episode - working Lily in was nice - and watching Buffy have to deal w/ who she is, tho she doesn't wanna be who she is was an interesting touch --

I came in here specifically to post about how "Anne" was just like an Angel episode - and you lot have beaten me to it! I am pretty sure that wherever it was they were shooting has also been used for Angel location (or lot?) shots, and one thing I did notice was that a shot from the opening credits of Angel (of a girl standing, looking lonely in a darkened road) actually came from this episode. Kinda took me by surprise. The entire conceit of this episode - that you go to the big bad city to get lost, and anything could happen to you there - is something that is a strong theme in Angel, or at least was for the first season or two. I watched this back to back with Becoming Part I & II, and as a three-parter it is very strong, feeling very like a set up for Angel the Series.

I love it when Buffy says "I don't even know what a tea cozy is but I want one." to the blood nurse. It's like my fave line of the season. and there's alot of good quotes in the season too. hmm Angel... I never thought of it that way but your right. it is alot like the way the Angel series was when it first started out.

Battle I especially liked the climax of this episode, because Buffy gets into a pretty cool battle, where she expertly wields a cool-looking blade . Also, the slave-drivers were effectively creepy, as was the "growing old on Earth/staying young in Hell" concept.
