Re: Katie Melua

What's with the Katie-bashing? Not all of us listen to metal ya know

Katie Melua is a beautiful girl with a stunning voice and a great talent for songwriting. And her music and original and refreshing.

Re: Katie Melua

No, my point was simply that I am a cultural recluse - I have only the barest understanding of who's made the charts over the past 10-15 years. I dropped out of the music scene about 1992.

However, over the past couple of months I've gained an idea of who more recent music artists - I even heard my very first Britney Spears song a couple of weeks ago (Toxic - it was quite good actually ).

"Oh, her" refers to the fact that I've actually heard a track by this artist, and therefore recognise something of who she is.

Hope that helps.

I was the same with Björk. I first I didn't like her stuff. Now I really don't understand why! She has one of the most amazing and interesting voices around, now I am quite a fan.

Re: Katie Melua

Bjork has been very variable - a lot of people were very uncertain about her first solo album release - but she's gone from strength.

Re: Katie Melua

Wasn't the news reported incident because they were talking pictures specifically of her kiddie - and when Bjork asked the photgrapher to stop, the pics kept being taken - so she thumped him for his film? Seemed to make perfect sense then.

Seen very little of her videos - music without imagery holds more force - the visuals are a distraction. Or can be. Or something.

Re: Katie Melua

I've read about that incident. A bit of an over-reaction but I also got the impression that she was partly justified.

I must say Bjork is hit or miss for me - either a song will connect or it will really annoy me. No in-betweens.
