Buffy was so mean to Spike in this ep. I know you really like her markpud, but u cant justify all the really mean things she said to him. She was totally heartless when she told him that the only chance he ever had with her was when she was unoncious. She wouldnt even give him a tiny chance.

honestly (and i mentioned this somewhere else too) i was disappointed w/ this episode - i was expecting more Spike / Dawn interaction -- not all this pining after Buffy stuff --- okay - so 1) this was to say 'good bye' to Drusilla - fine, say 'bye' and be done --- (tho those scenes were really good) and 2) it was to say bye to Harmony -- good riddance - she's annoying; but, 3) Dawn's crush - severely underplayed -- more than just the little comment in the opening and the 5 minutes she spends in his crypt should have been involved here --- that had some great potential --- the crush should have been spread over a couple episodes - or hinted at a few episodes before this -- the way this was done, it seems so sudden - like one day Dawn wakes up and thinks she's in love w/ Spike and talks to him, then Buffy tells her she can't like Spike, and <poof> Dawn doesn't have a crush on Spike anymore --- huh? what? it doesn't work that way! -- i think this was a case of trying to cram far too much into an episode - personally - if they had yanked out all the Glory stuff and just focused on Dawn and developing her character, the episode would have been better --- but that's just me ---

good question -- but the feel i got from the 'next time on Buffy' scenes was that it was about Dawn - but hey - i didn't write it and i still feel that it would have been a much more interesting episode if it had been more focused on Dawn -- but -that's just me ---

i maintain my previous view that this 'Crush' came and went really fast for Dawn - now - seeing the beginning (the intro/teaser piece) - b/c i missed it last time - i see more of Spike's crush - tho i think his is a bit more than a crush -- will say i kinda liked the 'new look' -- like he's trying to fit in w/ the 'crowd' and look more like the 'human folk' and less like a scary vampire --- and he was trying to be nice -- gets and A- for effort -- (to get an A+ he would have had to have colored his hair )

He looked particularly hot when he was sat at the bar with Xander staring at Buffy, yum yum - i watched his again today, and something that Tara said near the beginning caught my eye or ear, or whatever - Willow - I just don't see why he couldn't end up with Esmerelda. They could have the wedding right there. Beneath the very bell-tower where he labored thanklessly for all those years. Tara - No, see, it can't, it can't end like that, 'cause all of Quasimodo's actions were selfishly motivated. He had no moral compass, no understanding of right, everything he did he did out of love for a woman who'd never be able to love him back. Also, you can tell it's not gonna have a happy ending when the main guy's all bumpy. Spoiler speculation: It all just reminded me of the whole Spike/Buffy saga of Season 6 is all, and i know Joss puts stuff cleverly in previous seasons that point towards whats gonna happen next (and he claims that its not all coincidence ) and so it just got me thinking ![]() xxx

Spoiler speculation: And I don't think it's all foreshadowing season 6 - I think a lot of it is just S5 and even just "Crush" itself -- it can be applied to the entire 'relationship' through S6 - but it feels like just foreshadowing to the rest of the episode -- and S5 -- but yeah - works for S6 too -- ![]() | |

Sorry guys, I just caught this spoilery speculation. Remember this simple rule - it's okay to go into the future and reference the past, but it's not cool to go into the past and discuss the future. ... and don't forget to be home before Dawn. ![]()

oops -- my bad -- sorry 'bout that ---- sometimes hard to remember that there might still be those who haven't seen S5 all the way and S6 at all --- (thought I was about the last person to see some of these eps in S1-S5 )anyway -- *now on lookout to avoid this* ---

[Originally posted by Highlander II: oops -- my bad] No prob, in fact, you helped me catch a spoiler that's been hanging around for months. [Originally posted by Highlander II: ...thought I was about the last person to see some of these eps in S1-S5 ]Well, we have to think about those that may be new converts to Buffy or those that get DVDs as gifts from very thoughtful and intelligent friends. But I don't have to tell you, we all slip at some time. [Originally posted by Highlander II: ... and don't forget to be home before Dawn. ]Did you like my little add-on since we were talking about foreshadowing?... no wait, it's a secret that we were talking about foreshadowing. In the 100 questions from SFX magazine to celebrate their 100th issue, they asked Joss what was his favorite time of day and he replied, "Just before Dawn." I must be a hardcore Buffy fan, because I laughed about this line over and over again.

Yeah - very nice --- and I was watching my S4 DVDs (which aren't spoilers b/c this is the S5 section ) -- and was listening to Joss' commentary on "Restless" ---- and he makes mention - several times - that in Buffy's dream there are MANY references to 'dawn' and that it *is* foreshadowing her appearance in S5 -- very cool!Would have been nice to have seen that before seeing S5 - but I kinda watched stuff all out of order - so I knew about Dawn before I even saw S1 --- but, eh - that's okay -- Angel, otoh, I saw in order and didn't see much of S3 before I saw everything else - so, that was pretty cool ---- - and I still go the idea - anyway -- Crush -- I still don't think they did this episode quite right. I mean, as a 'stand-alone' it rocks, but w/ all the other stuff - I mean, if they were gonna have Dawn have a crush on Spike - shouldn't they have built it up over several previous episodes? this just seemed really sudden ----
